How can tire simulation better capture the changing temperatures, loads and wear experienced during real-world driving? Our Vice President and Managing Director of Endurica Europe, Dr. Tom Ebbott, will be presenting at Future Tire Conference 2026 in Prague next month, sharing the latest developments in transient tire thermal and wear modeling. Taking place on November 17-18, Future Tire 2026 brings together tire manufacturers, suppliers and technology leaders to examine how innovation can deliver measurable commercial value. This year's theme, Making Innovation Pay, includes a dedicated Innovation & New Thinking Forum, which will feature Tom's presentation. His presentation, New Advances in Workflows for Transient Tire Thermal and Wear Modeling, explores how Endurica is extending its established simulation capabilities beyond steady-state conditions to account for the complex, time-dependent loading histories experienced by tires in service. These workflows combine several Endurica software capabilities with finite element analysis to predict transient temperature distributions and accumulated treadwear. They also account for heat generated by friction at the tread surface, providing a more detailed understanding of how tire temperatures respond to changing driving conditions. Using a passenger vehicle driving the Nürburgring Nordschleife as an example, Tom will show how internal tire component temperatures remain quasi-steady once the tire has warmed up, while tread surface temperatures can rise and fall rapidly as the vehicle negotiates corners. For tire engineers and materials developers, these advances offer new possibilities for evaluating tire performance under realistic operating conditions, including the effects of changing loads, temperature and wear over time. We look forward to returning to Prague and meeting colleagues from across the tire industry.
