You’re finished jit
Texas, today is the day.
James Talarico seems like a nice young man and a moderate. That's the act.
This is a man who said "God is nonbinary." Who said there are six biological sexes. Who called capitalism an oppressive system he wants to dismantle. And who says we should look to Western Europe for inspiration. Take a look at Paris.
His record is just as radical. He voted NO on border security, NO on cutting your property taxes, and NO on stopping cities from defunding the police.
Lie to the voters, then get in power. Don't let it work.
Get out and vote for @KenPaxtonTX.
I leaned a new word today: megatsunami.
#Midterms2026
Replying to @tedlieu
Yes, megatsunami. It describes an extremely large wave—often hundreds of meters high—usually from a landslide, volcanic collapse, or impact, far exceeding typical earthquake-generated tsunamis.
His legacy isn’t at risk it’s fucked.
And yours?
Ten observations regarding the American midterm elections:
1. The party of an incumbent president almost always loses. 2026 was no exception.
2. In midterm elections, Americans vote based on the balance of power in Washington and their own personal finances (cost of living versus income levels). Trump simply concentrated too much power in himself, and voters sought a correction.
3. Furthermore, high fuel prices, rising food costs, expensive housing, and high interest rates created the perception that people are worse off than they were in the past. Consequently, they lost confidence in Trump’s handling of the cost-of-living issue and simply voted against him.
4. This is the worst election for Republicans in decades - at least since 2006. Republicans lost Senate seats in some of the most conservative states, such as South Carolina. It is a massive defeat. Excuses regarding the influence of immigrants on the results, election fraud, and so forth are invalid. Trump and his party must take responsibility for a sound thrashing.
5. The Republicans lost this election; the Democrats did not win it. More than half of Americans hold a very negative view of the Democrats. Voters were simply angrier at the GOP than at the Democrats, and therefore voted against Trump and his party.
6. The election strengthens the Democrats' position across the US, with the party gaining control of state legislatures, governorships, and hundreds of positions in all 50 states, while also securing control of both chambers of the US Congress starting in January 2027. This represents a massive mandate for a party that, in this election, lacked a single concrete message or agenda, serving instead merely as the "anti-Trump" party.
7. The consequence of this election is that the Democrats will dramatically curtail Trump’s agenda. Expect a succession of public hearings, the potential for impeachment proceedings against Trump and many of his cabinet members, and major budgetary battles -potentially leading to government shutdowns. No judicial nominee put forward by Trump will be confirmed. Trump will face a choice: attempt to reach settlements with the Democrats, engage in ongoing conflict with them, or simply face the reality of becoming a "lame-duck" president.
8. Trump’s legacy is at risk, but it could still be salvaged through agreements with Iran, peace in Ukraine, and - most importantly - strong economic performance, characterized by sustained growth and lower inflation.
9. Strong candidates and effective campaigns remain crucial. Trump made significant errors by backing extremely weak candidates in numerous states, such as Texas and South Carolina. The Republicans' weak candidates turned a poor election result into a disastrous one.
10. The battle for the 2028 presidential election begins today. Keep an eye on Ron DeSantis of Florida. He stands outside the Trump administration and was a very successful and popular governor. Republicans also performed better in Florida than in other states. DeSantis will be a formidable candidate in 2028. It is difficult to say how JD Vance will distinguish himself; he is directly linked to the mistakes of the Trump administration. Marco Rubio remains formidable and popular, but he will have to find ways to set himself apart. On the Democratic side, there are no clear frontrunners, but one can expect candidates to start emerging now.

shame
I can't wait to see mainstream media talking heads, pollsters, newspaper editors and out-of-touch academics make excuses and spin if things don't go the way they've so confidently said they would.
The Blue Wave, Obama on campaign, Abdul, Hillary, Kara Swisher, Hasan Piker, the DSA - pretty much all the worst people in America. Let's see what happens...
This is the best news for South Africa.
And a victory for American democracy.
Democrats have won the U.S. Senate, ending Republican dominance in Washington by harnessing voters' frustration with President Trump. apnews.com/live/midterm-elec…
