It’s always been happening. Back when I played everyone swung down on the ball because we were getting beat on high fastballs, pitchers adjusted with sinkers and two-seamers down in the zone, then came the uppercut craze. Now, Pitchers adjusted with high fastballs again, so here comes the swing down phase again. It’s a game of adjustments. Analytics is just a tool.

Sorry, but you’re wrong. I graduated in 2008. I’m now in my 9th year as a high school teacher. It is completely different. Rates of depression and anxiety have gone through the roof since the inception of social media. Kids today are more lethargic. Less social. Less happy.

Joe Espada should have pushed Hunter Brown and left him in. Made no sense to bring in Sousa esp w/ runners on. Espada’s feel for the game is questionable at best. Everybody in the ballpark knew that shit wasn’t going to work. Letting your starter go over 100 pitches isn’t a crime

Dude. I pitched in this same league 25 years ago. I threw “fuzz” back in the day as a closer. I was sitting 93-95. Maybe touched a few 97’s. Most of the guys on our staff would touch 90-92…many sat 87-89. Far cry from the velo of today. Regardless if it’s Hawkeye or a Stalker Pro measuring the velo. Can’t deny training has taken a quantum leap over the past 15 years. It’s ok to admit players are more skilled in terms of “stuff” than they were back when I played. Just like pitching was better in the 90’s than it was in the 60’s, etc, etc.
