Palestinian suspects set fire to the Tomb of Eleazar the Priest, an ancient Jewish holy site in the village of Awarta, near Nablus in the West Bank (Samaria).
Footage of the burning tomb circulated on Palestinian social media. The Judea and Samaria Situation Room reported that the videos were accompanied by songs glorifying the attack and threatening messages.
Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan arrived alongside Israeli soldiers, religious-site officials, and volunteers to repair the damage. They cleaned, whitewashed, and repainted the tomb, restoring the site that same night.
Eleazar was the son of Aaron, brother of Moses, and succeeded his father as the second High Priest of Israel. The tomb is traditionally believed to mark his burial place and has been targeted by vandalism before, including graffiti in 2025.
Condemning the attack, Dagan compared the perpetrators to ISIS and declared:
“They choose darkness; they choose to burn. We choose light; we choose life. Light will always triumph over darkness.”
That’s because the UK government doesn’t care about Jews and never did.
