People contact me about all sorts! Anyway, a behavioural psychologist has been in touch. They would like me to share the following. A : ) 1/4 One of the basic principles of behaviour analysis is that behaviour influenced by reinforcement is more likely to occur again. On social media, attention can be a powerful reinforcer, particularly when someone repeatedly posts provocative or inflammatory content. 2/4 Importantly, reinforcement doesn’t necessarily mean praise or agreement. Angry replies, criticism, arguments and even sharing a post to challenge it can all reinforce behaviour if the attention they generate is what keeps that behaviour going. 3/4 When attention is delivered intermittently, behaviour can become particularly persistent. Not every post needs to generate a reaction. The occasional flood of comments, shares or arguments may be enough to encourage further posting and strengthen someone’s perception that their contributions matter. 4/4 It’s worth considering whether engaging with deliberately provocative content achieves anything meaningful or simply gives it a wider audience. Where attention is reinforcing the behaviour, continued engagement may only maintain it. Sometimes choosing not to engage is more effective than responding.

I don't know where to begin with this level of ignorance. This is Carla, having purchased a painting from an exhibition. Delighted to find a 'special place in my office' for a scene of riot police at Drumcree, forcing a march down the road. This is why people are fleeing unionism

Nobody wants this. People want peace and prosperity - a budget, a plan. This nonsense is decisive, distracting and toddler time. Carla hasn't an ounce of integrity and no point anyone attempting to take her seriously. She's a wind up merchant. End of.
DUP MP @carlalockhart has addressed thousands at a rally in Portadown this evening. “Profound consequences must mean profound consequences . Michelle O’Neill must go. That’s where I stand and this lady is not for turning.” Read more : bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c6eq…

For those who missed Sunday Politics this morning, this is Jim Allister MP stating the PSNI should have sanitised the Garvaghy Road to enable the OO to march down it. SANITISE! These comments go some way to enable understanding of the mindset behind this historic issue. Shameful

Emma, a New Ireland isn’t dead just because the DUP fears it. Nationalists & Catholics will no longer accept second-class status in their own communities. Your party’s record of division, scandal & a paedophile leader tells its own story. A Lecture on law? Sit this one out!
Today is the day that any concept of a “New Ireland” died. The lies, spin and promises. It was always nonsense, and that had been laid bare. I never want any discord. I want to build a brighter future for Northern Ireland - for all of us. I work to that every day. I believe every person in this place I serve sees that. When others, including the First Minister and her party, have behaved with utter recklessness and disregard for stability and our institutions, I believe in responsibility. I have always embraced those who are different from who I am, and endeavoured to show respect. I have witnessed the tradition I come from treated with such utter contempt and hatred. “Little room, Great Hatred” that is what I’ve seen. That is what we have all saw with our own eyes. I come from the Orange tradition. I am deeply proud of the warmth, compassion, depth and richness of that tradition. All of our traditions come from particular aspects or “sects”. By its very nature, they are “of “something and not “of” something else. They are exclusionary by the very nature of it pertaining to the particular tradition, beliefs or views of some, but it is not exclusionary by experience or engagement. Every religious order or community is exclusionary by doctrine, but not by outreach. We all deserve respect. That respect and tolerance threatens no one. It is hard to believe I have to explain the basics of this so many years after the principles of the Glorious Revolution and our human rights and civil rights frameworks, but here we are. I have been deeply, deeply offended by the way my traditions and culture have been described, treated and expressed. The behaviour, and jubilance tastelessly and appalling shown by some tonight only shines a light on their intolerance, hatred and ignorance. I will never be goaded into punishing the people of Northern Ireland for the reckless of Sinn Fein. But I am disgusted and furious of those who have played to their base and not for what is for everyone. In this election you have a choice - choose those who want Northern Ireland to work, and those who do all they can to make it so.

I sense an inkling of hope that we can now concentrate on some of the critical things that are so important to us all…..
𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 PSNI Chief Constable has asked the Secretary of State to review the Parades Commission decision to permit Orangemen to parade along Portadown’s Garvaghy Road, @BBCNewsNI understands. #Drumcree bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ck3r…

Pleased that Drumcree march can’t & won’t take place. It should never have got permission + it must never do again. This has been a deliberate & wasteful problem, creating tensions & resource issues for the sheer hell of it. Time to get back on track & to drown out the wreckers
Drumcree isn’t Green or Orange, it’s Past v Future.

I urge people not to buy into this hyperbolic rhetoric. Instead, quietly reflect on the utter chaos that such actions plunged us in to. Peace was nearly shattered which should serve as a cautionary tale of who we should follow, and who we should run like hell away from.
Portadown District has not only won the legal right and defeated nationalism using the law, but this has succeeded in showing up the whole rotten two tier system for what it is, including shining a light on the true extent of pro-nationalist political policing. I’ve never seen such rage and fury across unionism/loyalism as tonight. Even those who didn’t support Drumcree, are nonetheless now infuriated and energised to fight back against the two tier system. There is no self-respecting unionist or loyalist who could continue to support or engage with the PSNI after what they have done on our community. Their authority, credibility and the rule of law lies in tatters. Jon Boucher thinks he’s politician and peacemaker; all we wanted was for him to be a policeman. He has failed. His smooth talking has worn thin. Let me be clear where I stand: 1. The DUP should resign Emma Pengelly and turf O’Neill out of office. If unionism accepts this without consequence (and I mean, actual consequence) then unionism will accept anything. The DUP have declared no confidence in O’Neill. They don’t need a motion; follow it to its logical conclusion and eject her from office. Is a ministerial car and plush office worth more than fundamental principle? 2. Political representatives should resign from the policing board and declare no confidence in the Chief Constable. 3. Political and community representatives should disengage from PCSPs forthwith. 4. Community groups and representatives should disengage from PSNI on all issues. There must be profound consequences. The PSNI were well warned; Boucher was listening to the dinner parties and believed he had read unionism/loyalism from his ‘sources’. He is about to find out just how badly he has misread it all. The PSNI and Secretary of State made their bed. Let them lie in it. That’s where I stand, and I will do no other 🇬🇧

More than 93% of unionist parades go ahead without restriction Unionist parades accounted for 63% of the 35,692 parades that took place in the past ten years. Republican parades made up 909 (2.5%) of the total, and 12,104 (34%) were classed as ‘other’, which covers everything from Pride parades to vintage car rallies. thedetail.tv/articles/more-t…

We don't support the DUP motion but this stunt from Alliance was shockingly petulant. Having complained about pantomime politics, seconds later Naomi Long led her party in a stunt walkout. Only serving to invite further contempt for the Assembly.
The Alliance Party Leader Naomi Long has led a walkout of her MLAs from the assembly chamber during a DUP vote of no-confidence motion in Agriculture Minister Andrew Muir. The DUP had brought the motion following heavy criticism of the Department of Agriculture's handling of a cattle cull in Fivemiletown last June.

In a stunning act of self-sabotage, some unionists thought resurrecting the Drumcree dispute from decades ago was a good idea. They handed their opponents a crocodile moment on stilts. Sinn Féin strategists couldn't have dreamt of a better political gift. belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sunda…
