I was going through one of my old college notebooks and randomly came across my hard copy of Theo Johnson's criminal complaint. The complaint alleged Johnson punched a fraternity brother. Who was that fraternity brother? Lars Zeepvat, of Penn State cocaine ring fame...
.@PennStateFball tight end Theo Johnson was charged with simple assault and criminal mischief Wednesday. The charges come in connection with an alleged incident at a fraternity event that left a man hospitalized and concussed. onwardstate.com/2023/04/26/p…

A community theater spent $400,000 on renovations. Now, the town may sell the building and leave them without a home. ebx.sh/bnKv3P

Started a Substack, to get some thoughts on my old beats out there. It’s free. Figured I’d share my first PSU post, on the importance of pursuing future hope over present wins in a lost season. CMC needs to embrace the benefits of pursuing the hope. donniecsports.substack.com/p…

This attitude is responsible for the omnipresence of Pat McAfee, Stephen A Smith, and the Kelces. You don’t want sports media; you want to be part of the team. You will never be part of the team.
Chicago media is fucking horrible bro wtf

Well, in his defense, Kraft was confident that he was going to hire a coach away from BYU who played for that program, built it for a decade, grew up near campus and sat outside the stadium as a kid listening to games, and is a member of the Mormon Church: 247sports.com/article/penn-s…
Replying to @TDsTake
When we gonna start talking about Kraft? Had he hired (say) Campbell on day 7-10 instead 54 (whenever) would we still be seeing what we're seeing now?

Always happy to admit when I’m wrong. I think we will look back at this hire as a meaningful change.
Don’t confuse motion with progress. Penn State needed a head coach, which changes the decision calculus. But I don’t believe the hire meaningfully changes the program’s trajectory.

Penn State’s most embarrassing loss to UCLA this past year was self-inflicted. Hard to know what was a more embarrassing moment of the Penn State coaching odyssey: 1. Settling on Kalani Sitake as the guy to take the next step. 2. Failing to get Kalani Sitake to sign.
I think it's way too early to make any judgements on Campbell that can't be taken back. But 2025 might be viewed a decade from now as the year PSU had a shot at Bob Chesney and passed it up.

PSU down 17. Good news is they know it isn’t an insurmountable deficit.

Maybe Pat Kraft should go into the game.

"Don't want to speculate, but I'm going to highlight two completely separate parts of the body based on what I see"
49ers WR Mike Evans in a lot of pain. Don't want to speculate, but grabbing his collarbone, and his right arm is dangling. Another tough break.

Matt Campbell's first loss is among the most brutal I've covered across a decade on the Penn State beat. Outscored 24-3 in the final 40 minutes.
FINAL: Wisconsin 24, Penn State 20 Nittany Lions drop to 3-1, will visit Northwestern next Friday

There is a corner of the internet I had never heard of before I started reporting this story. It’s called the “burnerverse”: a sprawling network of anonymous college-sports accounts that can look, at first glance, like ordinary shitposting. Then I started looking closer. And what I found was a highly coordinated network of hundreds of anon accounts, dedicated to doxxing girls and ruining their lives. My investigation for @WIRED — including some of the men allegedly behind some of these accounts — is out now. wired.com/story/burnerverse-…

Just thought about this again. It’s not offensive, it’s just baffling. Why would you do this? What did they search? I doubt a third-tier Lincoln assassination defendant pops up on a Google Images search for “western man.”
Anybody else think it's really strange Cedar Point used a picture of Edmund Spangler in one of their lines?
