Ethiopia's return to the Red Sea is about more than access to a port.
Look at what is unfolding in the regional maritime-security architecture.
A proposed Combined Maritime Task Force. Regional coordination. Shared maritime intelligence. Operational cooperation.

#Update: Ethiopia will reclaim access to the Red Sea through legal, diplomatic or “other alternatives,” Navy Commander Vice Adm. Kindu Gezu warned, describing the country’s loss of maritime access as a historic tragedy. He asserted that Ethiopia’s ties to the Red Sea stretch back thousands of years.

🇪🇹 Ethiopia will restore its lost Red Sea access through law, diplomacy, or "other alternatives," Navy Commander Vice Admiral Kindu Gezu said.
This loss is one of the country's historical tragedies, he stated at a symposium for former military and police personnel, as reported by a Sputnik Africa correspondent.
👉 The connection between Ethiopia and the Red Sea has existed for thousands of years — not since WWII, as others may say, the commander declared.
🇪🇹 Ethiopia will firmly safeguard its strategic interests in the Nile and the Red Sea, while seeking peaceful coexistence with the neighbors, Army Chief Field Marshal Birhanu Jula declared.
"The Nile waters are Ethiopia's natural blessing, while the Red Sea is a sea that God created for us Ethiopians to use," he underlined, adding that both resources are sufficient to serve the wider region.

I participated in the COP31 workforce motivation programme in Antalya, Türkiye. I was impressed by the strong and committed workforce prepared for the successful delivery of COP31. The experience will be invaluable in strengthening our preparations to build a dedicated workforce for hosting COP32 in Addis Ababa next year.
