🚨 ICYMI: President Trump has officially signed Chairman @SenTedCruz's Illegal Red Snapper and Tuna Enforcement Act into law. Red snapper is one of the most well-managed and profitable fish in the Gulf, but illegal fishing by Mexican lanchas puts law-abiding U.S. fishermen and seafood producers at a competitive disadvantage. Now that this bipartisan bill is law, it will allow federal and state law enforcement officers to utilize technology that determines the country of origin for certain species of fish, and confiscate any such illegally caught fish before sale in the United States. E-Rate was designed to help schools and libraries access high-speed, reliable internet—not create a cottage industry for consultants. Our new Senate Commerce investigative report estimates consultants receive $200–$400 million annually just to help navigate the program. It’s time to ask whether this version of E-Rate is still serving its mission. commerce.senate.gov/wp-conte…

“The Army's investigation report clearly shows that Army aircraft should be equipped with ADS-B In and ADS-B Out technology when in congested airspace, which my bipartisan ROTOR Act would mandate.Had this been in place, 67 lives would have been saved in January 2025. Pilot unions, major airlines, the NTSB, the DOT, Army safety experts, and the families of those lost in the crash all agree: ADS-B In and Out should be used except for the rarest of emergencies, and I am working with my colleagues in Congress to do just that.” - Chairman @SenTedCruz

The tragedy over the Potomac on January 29, 2025, must never happen again. We cannot afford to put American lives at risk by ignoring the @NTSB's recommendations on ADS-B In technology. It’s long past time we advance bipartisan aviation safety legislation to protect the flying public. For the families of every soul who died in the DCA crash, Congress must get this done.

College sports are a uniquely American tradition that bond us together. West Virginians will always remember when Pat White and Steve Slaton shocked the world against Georgia in the ‘06 Sugar Bowl, Joe Mazzulla’s heroics to upset Kentucky, Kevin Pittsnogle raining threes to take down Wake Forest, or the Mountaineers recent run through the NCAA baseball tournament that had the whole country singing Country Roads. But for years, uncertainly and inconsistency have ruled the college sports world to the detriment of West Virginia’s student athletes and our ability to compete. It’s time to fix college sports and ensure this great tradition remains strong. The Protect College Sports Act, which just passed the Senate, will bring much-needed stability, puts student athletes first, preserves scholarships, reins in conference realignment craziness, and preserves the traditions that make college sports so special. Let’s get this passed in the House!

🚨 ICYMI: President Trump has officially signed Chairman @SenTedCruz's Modernizing Access to Our Public Oceans Act into law. “Fishing is one of America’s greatest pastimes. A father teaching his children to cast a rod is a core memory that many Texans share. The MAPOceans Act will give fishermen reliable, up-to-date information and will make it possible to incorporate data into smartphone apps and mapping tools they already use. Instead of sorting through confusing or conflicting data, fishermen will be able to spend more time enjoying America’s waters with their families." - Chairman Cruz Read more about the MAPOceans Act here ↓ commerce.senate.gov/press/re…

The Protect College Sports Act passed the Senate 77 to 22 with strong bipartisan support. Raphael Warnock voted no. This is common sense. Pay student athletes fairly. Set reasonable transfer rules. End the NIL chaos. Georgia athletes deserve better than Warnock's vote. I plan to vote YES when it comes to the House.

Saving college sports isn't a red jersey vs. blue jersey thing. It's about saving an American institution. The Senate overwhelmingly passed the bipartisan Protect College Sports Act—now, it's up to the House to pass it and send it to President Trump's desk. Let's get this done.

The Senate’s bipartisan passage of the Protect College Sports Act is a welcome step toward restoring order in college athletics. Years of lawsuits, uneven state rules, and nonstop roster movement have left programs and athletes without a reliable framework. This legislation establishes clear national standards that protect student-athletes, sustain women’s and Olympic sports, and give college athletics a more stable future. I look forward to this legislation moving forward in the House.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said the Protect College Sports Act would bring “order to chaos” in college athletics by creating national rules for transfers, NIL compensation and other issues. Asked about criticism that the legislation would cap athlete pay and limit their ability to move between schools, Cruz told @tonydokoupil the bill protects athletes’ right to earn unlimited NIL compensation. The Senate passed the legislation 77-22. It now moves to the House.

I’m not worried about the superstars. I’m worried about the 99% of college athletes who will never play in the NFL or NBA, but for whom sports is their ticket to college. If Congress does nothing, we risk ending up with a mini-NFL of 30 to 50 rich programs while everyone else gets priced out. The Protect College Sports Act is about preserving those opportunities.

Coach Saban and President Gee are exactly right. College sports is one of America’s great institutions. It has given generations of young men and women the chance to compete, earn an education, represent their communities, and be part of something bigger than themselves. That tradition is worth protecting. I’m grateful to Coach Saban and President Gee for making the case so powerfully. The Senate did its job. Now the House should act and send the Protect College Sports Act to President Trump’s desk.

As a conservative, I believe you should be able to reap the fruits of your labor. If a college athlete is producing millions of dollars of value, that athlete should be able to make money. The Protect College Sports Act protects genuine NIL by statute.

The claim that our college sports bill takes away athletes’ ability to get paid what they are worth is simply wrong. The old system, where everyone got paid but the athletes, wasn’t fair. As a conservative, I believe you ought to be able to reap the rewards of your labor. If you can sell millions of tennis shoes, you ought to be able to make millions of dollars. Our bill protects that right.

🚨 Two of the most influential voices in college athletics are calling on the House to pass the Protect College Sports Act. Hall of Fame college football coach Nick Saban and longtime university president @gordongee: "Congress rarely gets the opportunity to strengthen a vital American institution with bipartisan legislation. This is one of those moments. "The Senate seized the opportunity. The House should do the same and send the Protect College Sports Act to President Trump’s desk without delay when it returns to session." Read their full piece in @PostOpinions ⬇️ wapo.st/4ALEMeI

As a lifelong @UNIAthletics fan and college sports enthusiast, Sen. @ChuckGrassley voted for the Protect College Sports Act so athletes, coaches, professional sports leagues and Olympic organizations play by the same set of rules. The legislation passed the Senate by a bipartisan vote of 77-22.
