They demand that people respect British traditions. Then, when people at an asylum hotel display poppies and honour the war dead, they complain. At what point does it become obvious that respecting British traditions was never the real issue?

I must have missed the lesson on the male birth canal.
Would someone please tell me the size of the male birth canal? Approximately? Thanks.

This rape victim blaming is just despicable Reality: >1500 rapes a day in uk 80% by someone they know 200 of these rapes reported to police Only 6 of them prosecuted Look, if you want to avoid being convicted of rape in 1, 10 or 20 years, just don’t rape anyone #RussellBrand
'There were people who knew stuff and they stayed silent' Former chief prosecutor Nazir Afzal told #BBCBreakfast 'we shouldn't be reliant on the victims to keep reporting what happened' after Russell Brand was found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cmly…

Don't you just love men telling women how we should behave to avoid being raped.
Yesterday, I made the mistake of daring to suggest that certain situations carry risks worth contemplating before putting yourself in them. I was referring to the Russell Brand case, in which one of his victims found herself in a vulnerable situation with a man she thought she knew because of his celebrity. The response? That the real lesson is that men shouldn’t rape women. Well, of course they shouldn’t. But does anyone seriously imagine we’ll ever live in a world where a small minority of predatory men don’t exist? There has never been such a society, and there never will be. As a man, I also find the implication that all men are potential rapists, given the opportunity, deeply insulting. The overwhelming majority of men regard rape as one of the most heinous crimes imaginable and would never dream of committing it. We can introduce tougher sentences and launch endless educational initiatives. And I’m certainly not arguing against teaching children about consent. But the uncomfortable truth is that genuinely predatory individuals are unlikely to be deterred by moral exhortations about behaviour they already know is wrong. There are many factors that create a Russell Brand. And some of those now most vociferously expressing their outrage were among the millions who watched him on television, laughed at his antics and helped make him the seemingly untouchable celebrity he became. There’s a wider reckoning to be had about celebrity culture, the people who enabled him and the warning signs that were ignored. There’s also a glaring irony here. Some of the progressives rightly appalled by Brand’s behaviour seem remarkably reluctant to discuss the risks associated with immigration from certain countries. The Economist recently found that Afghan nationals were convicted of sexual offences at seven times the British rate, even after adjusting for age and sex. Other groups were also disproportionately represented. These are uncomfortable facts, but surely anyone genuinely concerned about violence against women should be prepared to confront them. Ultimately, I believe in individual freedom. Adults are entitled to make their own decisions about whom they sleep with. And if someone commits rape, the responsibility lies entirely with the rapist. But surely we should also be able to discuss personal safety without being accused of blaming victims? If you’re contemplating a one-night stand with a celebrity whose entire public persona revolves around sexual excess, and whom you don’t actually know beyond what you’ve seen on television, I’d suggest there’s nothing unreasonable about stopping to consider the risks. Recognising that predators exist isn’t excusing their behaviour. It’s recognising reality. And pretending those risks don’t exist, or can be wished away, won’t make anyone safer.

"As a result I was willing to overlook, or just not look into, his history of problematic behaviour / statements, including sexism" Owen Jones. Which I could say I was suprised - OJ demonstrating his misogyny once again.

Thousands of people flooded my replies last week to insult me. They accused me of being part of a coordinated media conspiracy. They said the Russell Brand trial was a hit job by the establishment to silence an enlightened truth-teller. Well, the truth is finally here. And it is devastating. Russell Brand has just been found guilty of rape and three counts of sexual assault. He was denied bail and remanded straight into custody to spend the weekend in a prison cell before his sentencing. For the last three years, he weaponized alternative media to build a shield around himself. He branded himself a persecuted guru, got baptized on camera, and convinced millions of followers that the deep state was coming for him because he dared to speak the truth. He didn’t just lie to the public. He used his online audience as a human shield to avoid taking responsibility for the women whose lives he destroyed. Look at what he was actually found guilty of. Sexually assaulting women he cornered in bars and studios. Anally raping a woman in his own home while ignoring her begging him to stop. This wasn’t an edgy comedian who crossed a line with a joke. This was a ruthless, manipulative predator who used staggering fame to isolate women and treat them like disposable commodities. And look at the British media executives who enabled him. The television channels and radio stations that made millions off his "cheeky" public persona knew exactly how he operated. They watched him target young staff and guests, laughed it off as celebrity eccentricities, and kept handing him prime-time contracts. They are just as complicit as he is. But the real heroes today are the six women who stood in that courtroom. They did not know each other. They had nothing to gain financially. They endured years of online harassment, death threats, and public smearing from Brand’s fanatic supporters, all so they could stand in a witness box and finally force him to face the reality of what he did to them. The spiritual guru act is over, Russell. The conspiracy theories are dead. Today, Russell Brand is exactly what he always was: a convicted rapist sitting in a prison van.

Christ Almighty. In plain sight.
Of course Russell Brand is guilty. He's joking about it all here. Narcissistic nonce.

These were the brave Afghan women and girls who courageously took to the streets in 2022, protesting for their freedom, education and basic human rights. Millions of Afghan women and girls dreamed of becoming doctors, journalists, engineers and building a better future. For more than 1,800 days, they have been denied their right to education and forced into isolation, facing psychological distress and even forced marriage. Afghan women and girls raised their voices for their rights, but the world has forgotten them. #LetAfghanGirlsLearn #EndGenderApartheid #UN

Russell Brand is officially a rapist & sex abuser The women who came forward should not be forgotten, it takes enormous courage to speak up The passage of time does not erase the possibility of justice This is about accountability, not celebrity
 There will be others…

The testimony of the then 16 year old schoolgirl, who accused Brand, is one of the most harrowing and horrific things that I’ve ever read. It’s being reported that she has come forward to add her case. I hope she gets justice and they throw the book at the bastard.

8 years ago the Democrats controlled only 16 of the country’s 50 governorships. After these midterms, 75% of all Americans will have a Democratic governor. A massive turnaround with potentially important consequences for abortion rights, redistricting for Congress and ICE's work
