Privileged to speak at the Next Gen Summit in Baltimore, Maryland. The world is not finished yet. You have a place in it. Great things can still happen from small places.

community is the fabric of any society, and japa culture is tearing it apart. can't randomly carry ribena to see your friend at home on a saturday, video calling during a graduation doesn't hit like bringing a cooler of rice and flowers there. plus the economy, we unconsciously only have ourselves to “worry” about, yet we wonder why individualism is on the rise 🫩 it's all interconnected.
I don’t enjoy the concept of japa. Not sure how to couch it yet. When I can put my thoughts into words, I’ll write something. For now, I’m sad I’m missing Sally’s wedding, Ore’s intro, my siblings milestones, Celebration Church Yaba, RBC, visiting my friends at will, Christmas with the full family and all the good things community brings 🥺❤️

The concept of arguing with men over pregnancy is incredibly hilarious.

Women talk about how dangerous pregnancy is, problem. They talk about not having kids, problem. They talk about the number of kids they want to have, problem. You, abiyamo police, king of fertility, carry the belle nau.

“Pregnancy FELT like a death sentence TO ME” Nigerian men who have never even menstruated: you’re a vile woman. God will punish you. God will make you barren. You’re a liar. You can exaggerate. Pregnancy is not a death sentence. Idiots.

If your brother, uncle, boyfriend, father or husband is one of the men displaying stupidity in this comment section, I send you my deepest consolation. The reactions to this post is the concrete evidence that a lot of men only see women as a "baby factory", a pleasure tool and a lifelong chef. Because I don't understand why men who do not have wombs are feeling triggered over a woman's decision. They all go about claiming that children are worthy legacies and children open doors of success. If most of these idiots opened any door for their parents since birth, I'm sure it's door of debt and regret. Or how can a family legacy continue when fools like them are the ones entrusted with the baton? I'm so pissed, wtf.
Me I want to be barren o 🫠

One thing I would like to see more of is women being vocal about their contributions to the family. Not in a condescending or disrespectful way, but simply making sure their contributions are acknowledged. When you contribute to building a family, you or your husband should make it known. This culture of protecting a husband’s dignity by keeping a wife’s contributions quiet is part of why people come online and act as though women contribute absolutely nothing to their families. While he was putting most of his income into building a house, you were paying the children’s school fees, sending money to his family or yours, and keeping the household running. While he was saving up to buy a car, you were making sure the house was stocked with food. You were both building that family, just in different ways. But because people only see the husband’s visible investments, they conveniently ignore the wife’s sacrifices. And when something happens to him, suddenly, everything is described as the product of his sweat, as though his wife was merely a spectator in the life they built together. This is how society reduces women’s value to childbearing while overlooking their financial and non-financial contributions. It is also why widows and widowers are often treated so differently. Women need to stop allowing their contributions to become invisible in the name of protecting their husbands’ image. A family is built by a team, and both people’s sacrifices deserve to be acknowledged
One skill nobody will teach you as a married woman is sending your money to your family during festive periods or when you know they need support and telling them “my husband said I should give it to you.”

I don’t think I know how to feel things in moderation. It’s either I’m completely detached or way too invested, there’s rarely an in-between.

when my friends remind me of kind things i did for them, i’m genuinely lost because i can barely remember. and when they do extremely kind things for me, i’m always so stunned & very grateful. i guess it’s true: he who wants friends must first show himself friendly.

See the way he praises his wife! Do you think a man would speak about his wife this way if she contributed nothing to his life? I honestly wonder how people can conclude that she contributed nothing to his success. I read somewhere that she was once one of his backup singers. That alone tells you she was part of his journey long before the success everyone sees today.
The fact that they think the women didn’t contribute to the wealth is funny. You think she was just eating and sleeping in your brother’s house? Even if she was a full time house wife, you think her contribution to building the family does not matter?

This is an indictment of you, sir. Ask her to come and pay the same school fees here in Nigeria, and see whether she wouldn't enjoy the same service. She also said she spent an extra two years in school because of strikes, which this administration has eliminated. Nelfund is a game changer.
