My Updated Padres Top 32 Prospects as of August 24, 2026.
Yes, most of the 2026 draft is missing, I will be updating the list after the season. Really wanted to rank Lascelles though.
Questions/comments/etc are welcomed, always down to explain the reasoning.
Padres No. 9 prospect Alex McCoy clobbered two home runs in the Peoria Javelinas' 12-11 win over the Surprise Saguaros in the @MLBazFallLeague today.
McCoy is slashing .256/.348/.641 for a .989 OPS in 39 AB's, while going 4-for-5 on the base paths. @EVT_News

This is a lockout, not a strike because the owners don't care if baseball doesn't get played. It doesn't matter to the value of their owned entity...
The coming labor Armageddon is much more about the owners’ desire to raise their franchise values than it is about competitive balance, per @Ken_Rosenthal

Alex McCoy rips a 110.9 mph double in Arizona Fall League action
This comes after McCoy -- the 6-foot-5, 260-pound @Padres prospect -- belted the fourth-hardest-hit ball (118.2 mph) in the AFL since 2016 last week.
An excellent piece from @SamDykstraMiLB on a Padres prospect you may not have heard of.
DeCriscio has thoroughly impressed me this season, and I can see him being an MLB contributor in 2027.
"That's just a big thing for me ... to show that I can go out there and pick it no matter where I am."

In the next week, you’ll hear way too much about small markets and TV ratings. Give it a rest and appreciate this:
The 2026 World Series: the team with the best record in the National League vs. the team with the best record in the American League.
Just found this offseason's obscure SP targets for the Padres that I'll be writing on in the coming weeks.
Any guesses?

I broke down how I think small market clubs are winning in today's game. A few keys:
- Optimizing in-house hitters
- Not "purchasing power bats"
- Taking advantage of the chaotic pitching market
- Utilizing speed on the basepaths, in the outfield
Would love to discuss further!

Key point: And MLB chose to punish small-market Padres for growing game by deny them competitive balance draft picks since ‘23, while
other small markets — including, deservedly, Brewers— got one per year.
That’ll teach Padres for achieving top-5 attendance every year.
