I don't know why Nate Silver has to "live down" predicting a 30% chance Trump would win in 2016. Things with 30% likelihood still happen all the time! 30% of the time in fact!
Listened to Nate Silver on Ezra this morning. One of the least popular things I could do on this website is defend Nate Silver, so challenge accepted.
His "vibes" have been directionally correct in every Election. In 2012, he fought against the polling unskewers making claims that Romney would win based on undersampling of Republicans.
In 2016, his model was famously FAR more bullish on Trump than any others. He was the only modeler who understood the possibility of correlated polling error.
In 2020, he repeatedly emphasized the higher than usual uncertainty due to the pandemic.
In 2022, he fought back against pollsters (NY Times!) basically ignoring their own data to buy into the Red Wave.
In 2024, he said that even though his model was 50/50, his gut said Trump would win.
All in all, a better record than anyone else on Election Twitter.

Shatner and Takei are going to die on the same day (hopefully many years from now) like Jefferson and Adams, aren't they?

The Cheesecake Factory stuff is a really good encapsulation of conservative discourse during the Obama era for folks not old enough to have experienced it. Endless whining and mind-loss over something they wouldn’t even notice if someone else said it. Eight years of that!
They handed out a fantastic fake Playbill at the #PFF35 showing of THE DEBUT xitter.cf/MikeIsaac/status/21151…

I hate this condescending whataboutism. Yes Bret, if the interior minister of Japan was a right-wing religious zealot using US taxpayer money for ethnic cleansing, they would probably be better known.
I fear that is not a question Grok can accurately answer. xitter.cf/Abhishek060722/status/…
Former Miss Switzerland Beatrice Keul has just accused Trump of raping her in a hotel suite in 1993.
Hey @grok , is this true? If so, why didn't she speak up at the time, or is this just political fiction?
I reviewed five more from #PFF35- THE DEBUT, ELSINORE, WILD HORSE NINE, RAY GUNN and MOUSE stephensilver.substack.com/p… @philafcc @OFCS @CriticsChoice
RIP. For some reason, my mind went straight to a joke she made in the SNL 15th-anniversary special in 1990, where she revealed she was the first SNL host to marry the producer. But she wasn't the first host to sleep with a producer; that was Buck Henry. pagesix.com/2026/10/27/celeb…

Guys this is very obviously fake. It has the woman talking like how men who know nothing about women imagine they text. Most dating app/dating text screenshots posted are clearly fake

Anyone who votes for someone because Johnny Manziel told them to is too stupid to live in a functional society.
News: Trump is bringing three football stars — Johnny Manziel, Colt McCoy and Danny Amendola — onto the campaign trail in Texas tomorrow
The play: Turn football fans into midterm voters — especially the young men who helped Trump win in '24

Elon Musk has spent more money on American elections in the last two years than George Soros has in his entire life.
What's wild is that Lurie is by far the best owner in Eagles history and absolutely deserves enshrinement in the team's Hall of Fame. This is also the worst possible timing.
