"So what, did we all get dumber or something?" Freeze frame.
We are literally doomed American High School English Teacher reads real responses from her student’s assignment after reading The Great Gatsby We have a serious education issue in America and if we don’t address it, we have a horrible future ahead of us These kind of responses are to be expected because 12th grade reading results in 2024 in America showed that reading levels right now the lowest they’ve ever been since the assessment began in 1992

Know what time it is.
this is not a small group of people on the left anymore, but a large, dominant faction without whom democrats can’t win elections. and there is no debating them, because they aren’t interested in changing your mind. they just earnestly want you to die.

"How did this happen?" Amy asks, a good question to which I have an answer. From 1990 to today the cost of daycare as denominated by gold dropped by about 40%. The answer is that we have a currency problem.
My mom paid $160 a month for full time daycare in 1990 Adjusted for inflation, that's $413 today I'm looking at $1,100 a month in 2027. That's 167% more, even after adjusting for inflation. How did this happen?

Cockroach "milk" is a protein crystal secretion nourishing embryos inside one cockroach species; it is not practically harvestable, scalable, or shown safe for human consumption, contrary to superfood hype. healthline.com/nutrition/cock… m.economictimes.com/us/science-tec… bio.purdue.edu/news/articles/…

The demonization of memorization is one of the top ~3 reasons that we have become retarded as a society. Memorization is like pumping iron for your brain and you inevitably also come to understand/internalize what you memorize. It shouldn’t be limited to vocabulary and times tables either. It should be poems in foreign languages, the ability to trace maps by hand from memory, timelines and dates, etc.
Memorization has an unfairly negative reputation. I recently spent a few hours memorizing the names of all the countries in the world and it's such a clear improvement in how well I can understand and reason about other topics. Memorization is scaffolding for more complex ideas

AI writing is obvious to any decently intelligent and observant reader because it's the uncanny valley of writing. A perfectly constructed simulation of something a human "might" write but constructed in a way that makes it obvious that it's a simulation by a machine.
Why exactly is it so obvious when someone is trying to pass off AI writing as their own? There are clear red flags like “quietly” and “load bearing” but there’s also something less tangible in the rhythm and construction that screams AI but is hard to precisely describe. I can tell when something is AI slop but I can’t always tell how I can tell.

BREAKING: The Pentagon has launched “FORTRESS America,” an initiative ordering major military bases in the continental US to be able to run on their own for at least 90 days. Bases will need to keep power, water, fuel and communications running independently, without relying on outside supply.

Years ago when I was an EMT we'd regularly get calls from a women using fake emergencies but really looking for a ride to the hospital to get her regular Sickle cell anemia treatments. Know that when you pay $800 you arent paying for your ambulance ride you're paying for hers.
Libertarians think taxation is theft but somehow charging $800 for an ambulance ride is the beautiful expression of voluntary exchange.
