Lane Hutson going from competing for playing time and OZ opportunities behind Q. Hughes/Werenski/Fox to competing for playing time and OZ opportunities behind Makar/Bouchard/Schaefer
There's literally a 0.000001% chance this happens but #thinking about the fact that if Lane Hutson doesn't play for the US at the 2027 IIHF Worlds he'll be eligible to make a nationality switch to Canada
He'd fit the criteria of playing four straight seasons in another country in which he has citizenship while also not playing in IIHF tournaments for his current country (which is what's needed for a nationality change if you've already represented a different country in IIHF competition).

Never too early to checkout the rim protection landscape... surprised? Or does this match your eye test
This is really the first year I've consistently seen his next-level movement away from the puck to create offensive chances for himself.
In Russia, this was his superpower. His playmaking was secondary.
He's finally brought it to the NHL.
Matvei Michkov is making his mark from the weak side of the net.

As much as I agree with the “soft” comments and will not give the players a pass at all… the last point here is very important. Tocchet’s locker rooms become fractured. Other coaches lose the room eventually, no doubt. But they don’t become broken as frequently as his seem to.
Genuine question for @charlieo_conn. Do moments like these not lead you to believe there's some genuine antipathy for Michkov from Tocchet?
He could just be that dumb that there's really nothing to read into, but that means he's so dumb that he shouldn't have this job.

Out of curiosity, if I said I was a Michkov fan, what point would that prove for you?

Talking about yapping.. all you do is yap bs. You wanna act like you know shit about hockey, then talk hockey! Stop with the petty bs. Shitting on everyone and everything within the org to push your 39 agenda. It’s old dude. Are you a flyers fan or a Michkov fan?
Yup. At the end of the day, this falls on Briere. Who failed to steward over his roster at every turn.
That the locker room is melting down is really just his fault, because at every turn, he had a critical decision to make... and he made the wrong choice. Without fail.
I actually feel sorry for guys like Nick Seeler and Sean Couturier, two great dudes who are taking a lot of flak for speaking their minds, and Travis Konecny, whose name has been out there when he wanted to and chose to stay in Philly and can’t do anything about it while being injured.
They’re put in harm’s way by nature of being the old guys on a team trying to be young and skilled. Keyword: trying. The actual problem is that this was the predictable outcome, because the Flyers never leaned into a traditional rebuild or youth movement. Without injuries, you never would have seen Denver Barkey or Alex Bump last year, or Oliver Bonk and Cole Knuble this year.
