We, as a country, are cooked from the top down and the bottom up. Take Bengaluru traffic. Everyone is frustrated, so @blrcitytraffic launched the BTP AsTRAM app to involve citizens in reporting violations. Sounds good. So why isn't it working? Bottom up: We've embraced the attitude: “I don't care what's happening to my neighbour, as long as my place is clean.” But we live in a SOCIETY, not in isolation. What affects your neighbour today will affect you tomorrow. Bengaluru is sadly becoming full of “Do you know who I am?” and “They're not complaining, so what's your problem, guru?” Too much ego, too little civic sense. I'm a Bengaluru boy btw before y'all come for me. I'm an honest, tax-paying citizen asking for basics: walkable footpaths, clean drinking water and drivable roads. These aren't extravagant demands. A comedian joked after visiting Vietnam: if Vietnam is a third-world country, India is a ninth-world one. I haven't been there, but I'm inclined to agree. You can apparently drive there without wondering which ditch will kill you, and traffic violations are acted upon. Vietnam was BOMBED, man. BOMBED. Repeatedly. And it still has better basic infrastructure than India?! Shambolic. Top down: This is where BTP and AsTRAM enter the rant. I've been asking @blrcitytraffic to help us drive safely on whatever little road is left in this city. I thought AsTRAM would let citizens report violations and get them taken seriously. Instead, people who see me taking pictures at signals either scoot away or threaten me, saying nothing will happen to them. When did we start treating arrogance as an answer? And the app's reporting process is utterly useless. I use 12th Main, Indiranagar, daily. Near the CRED signal, people routinely drive the wrong way towards ESI, with no action from cops despite my practically begging them. Near FUAARK and the stores, two-wheelers crowd the footpath as though they own it. So I reported a violation on 22/09/2026 at 11:48 AM, with clear pictures. **45 days later**, the app still shows: Validating. 45 days to validate an obvious violation of rules set by the very authorities I'm reporting it to. Forget high-speed cameras and fines delivered home elsewhere. A citizen has submitted clear evidence. What more do you need? Dear Bengaluru Police and government: forget the AI advancement for a moment. Get an independent reviewer, even a freelancer, to examine the app YOU built. Get a grip and serve citizens better. Heck, I'm happy to do that job. Pay me 20% of what you could ACTUALLY collect by holding violators accountable, instead of taking it as a bribe and letting them go. This happened at the 12th Main junction. BTP, before asking me for details again, look at the image below and check the AsTRAM app. The details are right there. And this is what infuriates me. I'm no model citizen. If I make a mistake or an MLA's/MP's relative does fine us heavily and stop us from repeating it. If I don't wear a helmet, capture my picture, impose the mandated ₹500 fine and suspend my licence for three months. Don't take the ₹500 and let me go with a warning. I'll do it again because I know you'll take the money and let me go. If we're a developing nation aiming to be a superpower by 2047, please start by providing the basics. I'm an honest citizen, tired of raging against the dying light. The very people meant to make that light brighter are putting it out. Please help us live a bare-minimum, decent life without constantly worrying about what might happen to us on the roads when walking.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Imagine the plight of entire iceberg. How deep this bureaucratic mess has made inroads . Arrogance, corruption , and treating other services as inferior is their carta blanche
Let me take you back to the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, passed in 2013 and brought into force in 2014. Section 44 made it mandatory for every public servant to declare their assets and liabilities, along with those of their spouses and dependent children. Only the IAS lobby opposed this provision with all its strength. You can guess why. The DoPT extended the deadline for submitting property declarations five times. Every time, it declared that no further extension would be granted under any circumstances. Yet it kept extending the deadline. DoPT is also headed by an IAS. Eventually, in 2016, the IAS lobby got Parliament to amend Section 44 in just one minute, without any debate, removing the original mandatory disclosure requirements. The amendment left it to the executive to prescribe how public servants would declare their assets. And since then, the promised rules have never been framed to make that disclosure system operational. Now look at the Whistle Blowers Protection Act, passed in 2014. The government withheld its implementation, claiming that amendments were necessary. When the amendment bill lapsed, the government said no amendment was needed. Yet the law has never been brought into force. This is how transparency and anti-corruption laws are thrown into the dustbin. Even the weakest accountability measures are perceived as threats by the IAS lobby. The RTI Act has been butchered. IAS officers have captured the Central Information Commission. The entire system is designed to loot citizens and provide enormous protection to the corrupt and powerful. Ordinary citizens are left powerless, paying taxes like colonial lagaan, serving bureaucratic lords and living under their arbitrary authority. The IAS system has eaten away at this nation. Even in Pay Commissions, IAS officer occupy key position and secure extra edge in pay among the same upsc batch other cadres, arbitrary NFU to raise their pay, promotions and career progression. They manufacture higher posts, arbitrary hierarchies and privileges, extracting every possible benefit from taxpayers’ hard-earned money. And what do citizens get in return? These generalists occupy leadership positions across departments without specialised knowledge, original work or measurable performance. Wherever they go, they monopolise power, drain public resources and protect their own privileges. India gained political independence in 1947, but the colonial administrative structure survived. British rulers were replaced by Indian bureaucratic lords, while citizens remained powerless before the same feudal machinery. Whoever dismantles this IAS system and replaces it with democratic, professional and accountable public institutions will be a real patriot who gives India its second independence, freedom from the surviving relics of colonial rule. @narendramodi @RahulGandhi @khurpenchh @VivekGa54515036 #BureaucraticReforms #IASReforms #EndBureaucraticRaj #AdministrativeReforms #NFU #PayCommission #8thPayCommission #EndVIPCulture

My biggest concern with the new elevated corridor work starting is that Metro work is still underway in around Hebbal-Nagawara & the new Airport road through hennur is in bad shape. With existing projects incomplete are we rushing into this one?
Just thinking about this is giving me the jitters! Travelling through Hebbal, to & from Bengaluru airport could get very tedious over the next 18 months as BDA begins work on a four-lane elevated corridor. Total ban on heavy vehicles, alternative route options listed below 👇🏼

KSRTC was once a matter of pride. Sad to see its condition today. Buses in such condition, concerns over safety, and now a 23% fare hike? Karnataka Govt, before charging passengers more, at least ensure they get proper service. People deserve better. #Karnataka @KSRTC_Journeys

I have written to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi in response to his letter on Karnataka Rajyotsava, placing before him the key priorities of our State and seeking the Union Government’s support and timely intervention on several important issues. From Bengaluru’s infrastructure and connectivity needs, including a special financial package, to the Mekedatu, Kalasa-Banduri, Upper Bhadra, Upper Krishna and Yettinahole projects, I have highlighted the need to expedite pending approvals and financial assistance. I have also raised issues concerning rural development, drinking water, Jal Jeevan Mission, the proposed AI University in Bengaluru, AIIMS in Raichur, sugarcane farmers’ demands, fair pricing, ethanol policy and urgent drought relief. The letter also highlights the importance of strengthening education, skill development, research and employment opportunities for our youth. I have sought the Prime Minister’s personal intervention and reiterated my request for an all-party delegation from Karnataka to meet him and discuss the pressing concerns of our farmers and people. I believe that cooperative federalism must translate into meaningful support and equitable development for every State. Our Government remains committed to safeguarding Karnataka’s interests, addressing the needs of our people and ensuring balanced and inclusive progress across every region of the State.

For democracies, especially countries like India, things like armed forces reforms, indigenous R&D tilt, theaterization can all happen only by and during a war. Massive reforms during peacetime is just not possible. Nobody thinks and acts with intent or the seriousness needed to push through. Then question comes down to are we actually preparing for a war or defer a war. The current reading(and as openly said by the candid Manohar Parrikar) is that we prepare to deter a war and not to fight a war. Which means kinetic action and battlefield realities at larger scale are less likely to happen. Which leads us back to the point, if we are deferring a war why even undergo reforms?! An India specific version of a theatre command structure, C&C, force accretion and indigenous MIC gets forged during war as we are forced to iterate on the fly. Countries that did such deep reforms do with the mindset that they are going to be at war soon. We don’t have such assumptions. We are the country that conduct diplomacy at military to military level using n Flag meetings along the LAC. We are a country who awarded the Corps commander and the Military Intelligence chief who got surprised by massive Chinese buildup along LAC with a Param Vishisht Seva Medal. We are the country that after having depended heavily on US satellite images throughout 2020-2023 LAC standoff haven’t launched enough satellites to own our intelligence capabilities. Bcos we are never preparing for a war. We are upgrading at a lower amplitude on various formations from anecdotal learnings from the Ukraine war and Op Sindhoor. Just to keep up the deterrence. Only a war, where C&C issues crop up and threaten a front, where a realization dawns that more men on the border without adequate tech is a liability where a foreign dependence virtually kills a capability after first few days will make everyone who is willfully ignorant today to acknowledge the deficiencies in the current system.
It is totally over btw. Indian Army will be a bloated outdated employment generation scheme devoid of any serious fighting capacity. A future government will have to raise a completely new nimble technology first force for the actual battlefield.
