Kudos to @TheTexanNews for interviewing many of the statewide judicial office candidates on the ballot and airing those videos. These are important offices that deserve more attention from the media than the typical one-day "who is running for ____ ?" story. #Elections2026

DA Greg Willis Announces 75-Year Sentence for Man Who Possessed Child Pornography Including the Sexual Assault of Toddlers
Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis announced today that a Collin County jury sentenced Joshua Turner, 31, of Celina, to 75 years in prison for Possession of Visual Material Depicting Sexual Assault.
The Crime
On October 19, 2025, the @CelinaPolice received a tip from the @NCMEC that Turner was viewing child pornography. When the investigation began, Turner started deleting evidence from his devices. Detectives were still able to recover several images and videos of child pornography, including material depicting the sexual assault of toddlers.
The Investigation
Further review of Turner’s devices by Detectives DeGroot and Crumley revealed that he had been messaging with several minors on platforms including Kik, Session, and Telegram. The investigation also showed that Turner had engaged in sexual intercourse with a 14 year old after providing her with alcohol. Turner had also sent disturbing messages describing sexual acts he wanted to commit on children as young as three years old.
The Trial and Sentence
On October 28, 2026, Joshua Turner pled guilty to Possession of Visual Material Depicting Sexual Assault. A Collin County jury then sentenced him to 75 years in prison. Judge Rayburn Nall presided over the case.
Statement from District Attorney Greg Willis:
“This man possessed especially despicable child pornography including the sexual assault of toddlers, messaged multiple minors, and engaged in sexual intercourse with a 14 year old after giving her alcohol. A jury sentenced him to 75 years in prison. Those who exploit children will be held accountable.”
Prosecution Team
Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Madison Dickson and Pierce Richardson prosecuted the case, assisted by District Attorney Investigators Sarah Putman, Greg Bowers, Keith Putman, and Victim Assistance Coordinator Melissa White.

The immigration officer indicted Friday in Houston after striking a fleeing man with his patrol vehicle is a failed congressional candidate from Brownsville who previously resigned from the state prison system while on probation and said he struggled to resume a civilian life after his brief military career. 🔗bit.ly/4BFyMF6
Mario Alberto Morales, 33, was indicted on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after striking 48-year-old Miguel Parra Hernández, a Mexican immigrant, during a chase Oct. 10. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office said Morales previously failed to land a job with U.S. Border Patrol, worked as an ICE contractor and was hired as an Enforcement and Removal Operations officer last year during the agency’s hiring surge.
⠀
Morales is in the Houston area and is expected to surrender himself once the case is assigned to a court, his attorney said.

The Arcane Texas Fact of the Day: Almost 50% of the population of the Texas Panhandle lives within the Amarillo city limits. I just did the math. Using the latest figures, the population of Amarillo is 205,130. The population of the 26 counties comprising the Texas Panhandle is 427, 927. That works out to 47.9%. However, if you include the entire Amarillo metropolitan area, rather than just the city itself, the proportion rises to approximately 60% of the Panhandle's population.
