Lamar Jackson hasn't had surgery on his right thumb yet. There are a few variables at play, but a return is still possible this season. As for his long term future, there won't be any contract discussions until after the season. The Ravens want Jackson long term, always have.
What's next for Lamar Jackson this season and his future with the Ravens? My report on our @NFLonPrime pregame show.

The struggles without Lamar Jackson have reached historic levels.
The Ravens’ 33-10 loss to the Jaguars marks the first time in their 31-year history that they’ve lost three straight games by 20 or more points.

The hard truth is this isn’t a very good Ravens team. And it’s not just because Lamar Jackson is missing.
The defense isn’t good. It surrenders big plays each week, and can’t hold leads. Not enough pressure, and the coverage is scary.
The offense commits too many self-inflicted wounds and the offensive line is porous.
Neither side is disciplined.
There are too many bloated contracts for vets that aren’t performing.
Many players haven’t shaken mental scars from years past.
Lamar covered up a lot of roster warts, and without him, they are being exposed.

Jeremy Fowler on the Ravens’ QB situation
“I’m told [Jacoby Brissett] knows, or has the expectation that Lamar Jackson could be back at some point late in the season, so he’s looking at this as really a 5-6 game run, try to keep the seat warm for Lamar if he can make it back”

During a busy QB day, it now includes a QB trade, with Jacoby Brissett headed to the #Ravens to become their starter soon enough.
He rejoins his former QB coach in Arizona, Israel Woolfork, and will arrive with hopes of keeping Baltimore afloat.
Trade: The #Ravens are finalizing a trade for former #AZCardinals QB Jacoby Brissett, per me and @AdamSchefter, filling the void left by the injuries to Lamar Jackson and Tyler “Snoop” Huntley.
The deal is expected to be completed this weekend.
