Is the foreign policy establishment adopting MAGA’s worldview, or is Trump adopting the Blob’s? At CFR in March, Sebastian Gorka called a New York Times reporter "some piece of human filth." He told a Harvard Law lecturer asking about war powers, "Who's the commander in chief?" On blowback from Iran, he said you’d have to be smoking Hunter Biden’s crack pipe to worry. The moderator moved on each time. I wrote about Trump’s Blob for @nybooks:

In UN diplo circles there is wide-spread speculation that Lana Nusseibeh will prevail in the race for UN Secretary General. Except China, I'm told, remains committed to supporting a candidate from Latin American or the Caribbean, raising prospect that race is still open.

It’s truly unbelievable that people are still blaming China for sowing chaos in the West… At this rate, you’d think China started the Iran war, ran the fiscal profligacy driving bond yields higher worldwide, and launched a trade war against the rest of the world.
China's CCP Game Step 1: seed chaos & instability in West -use TikTok content to create/amplify social division -use fake NGOs to foment protest + disinformation/misinformation -flood cheap Fentanyl to create addiction crisis Step 2: Promote China 'model' as alt to West chaos

Read this carefully. A senior U.S. official is invoking American sanctions against the ICC while warning the ICJ judges hearing a genocide case against Myanmar... The U.S. itself declared the Rohingya genocide to be genocide, but that doesn’t seem to matter to this “ambassador.”
ICJ ad hoc "judge" Navi Pillay is tipping the scales on the ICJ’s current proceedings on Myanmar, intending to lower the legal threshold for proving genocide so that weakened and false standard can later be weaponized against American and allied soldiers whenever they raise a finger against terrorists that hide behind civilians. Pillay: We see your agenda and we'll be watching the ICJ’s handling of these proceedings very closely. As our actions against the ICC demonstrate, we will not allow globalist, faux-judges to weaponize the law against our troops, undermine our sovereignty, or put American lives at risk.   The Nobel Committee has disgraced itself by awarding the Peace Prize to Pillay. What a shameful choice to "honor" someone who represents an "international community" with a leftist, globalist, antisemitic agenda. President Trump is showing a better way, by actually ENDING WARS, bringing hostages HOME, and making PEACE.

“What makes the rise of Puma Shen so significant is that the former uni professor who is an expert on China’s influence efforts in Taiwan has scored almost all his political points on local governance, rather than playing up Chiang and the KMT’s closeness to the CCP.” @heguisen
China has barely been mentioned in this year's Taipei mayoral campaign. But should upstart DPP challenger Puma Shen win, Beijing would lose an important ally in incumbent Chiang Wan-an, who it has likely viewed as a future president it could work with. asia.nikkei.com/opinion/coul…

The domestic foundation of American global power is crumbling. Trump is less the cause than a symptom and an accelerant. Since the Cold War ended, the United States has pursued global primacy under an implicit bargain with the public: dominance would come cheap. Today Americans are no more willing to bear serious costs for foreign policy than they were in the 1990s. But a far more competitive world is driving up the price of upholding U.S. commitments. No matter who wins the White House in 2028, this gap will constrain American power around the world. In a new @CarnegieEndow paper, I trace the U.S. foreign-policy consensus from the Cold War to the present and outline three scenarios for the future:
