i24NEWS exclusive: Shin Bet chief David Zini wants to question four senior Arab party politicians under caution as criminal suspects. The four: Ahmad Tibi (Ta'al), Mansour Abbas (Ra'am), Sami Abu Shehadeh (Balad), and a senior MK who cannot yet be named, against whom there is said to be significant evidence. The Attorney General demanded to see the evidence before approving the questioning. So far she has seen it only for the unnamed MK. A joint Shin Bet-police team was agreed two days ago, but the Shin Bet still hasn't handed over the materials, so the investigation hasn't begun. The meeting also had an awkward moment. Zini reportedly said: "We will also request to question the Knesset member, um, what's his name, what's his name, what's his name... Mansour Abbas." Tonight Zini is in the office of Justice Solberg, chairman of the Central Elections Committee, claiming the AG is obstructing the probe. Likud and Religious Zionism called it "an earthquake" and demanded that Baharav-Miara be removed from the case. Each side tells a different story. The AG's version is that the head of the Shin Bet wants to summon, without grounds, the leaders of the parties opposing the prime minister who appointed him. The Shin Bet chief's version is that the AG, appointed by today's opposition, is blocking a foreign election interference probe in a way that benefits the people who appointed her. Every possible answer is troubling. But at least let us know the truth.
