Taking the Oath. Article II, Section 1, Clause 8 — Presidential Oath of Office — a duly elected President of the United States swears (or affirms) their oath of office, below is that oath: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, PRESERVE, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” I capitalize the word PRESERVE because this oath, unlike others taken by federal officials, is the only one to use the word PRESERVE. The @POTUS has a duty to not only protect and defend, but to PRESERVE our constitution. 
 Pray that our leadership understands this. I believe America is moving into previously uncharted waters, and our constitution is (will be) tested in the years ahead as maybe only one other time in U.S. history. Can it stand the test of the past of our American experience? I pray it does for the sake of our freedoms, our civic responsibilities, and especially our children.
