Among the healing miracles attributed to Saint Charbel Makhlouf, the 1993 healing of Nohad El Shami is the most famous and thoroughly documented.
Nohad El Shami, a 55-year-old Lebanese woman, suffered from partial paralysis caused by severe blockage of the carotid arteries. Her condition left her unable to move normally, and doctors considered surgery too risky.
After praying a novena to St. Charbel, she dreamed that the saint, accompanied by another monk (widely believed to be Saint Maron), operated on her neck. When she awoke on January 22, 1993, she was completely healed.
She could walk, speak, and move normally again. She also found two fresh, surgical-like scars on her neck that remained visible for years.
Following an investigation by Church authorities and medical experts, the healing was recognized as extraordinary. St. Charbel's monastery asked Nohad to return regularly as a witness to God's grace through the saint's intercession.
Her testimony has inspired countless pilgrims, and the event remains one of the best-known healing miracles associated with St. Charbel.

His name is Saint Raphael the Archangel, and there's a powerful reason why Catholics have called upon him for centuries as a protector against lust, a defender of purity, and a heavenly companion in times of spiritual danger.
It all goes back to a terrifying story in the Bible.
In the Book of Tobit, a young woman named Sarah was tormented by a demon called Asmodeus. This wasn't just any demon. He was associated with lust and destruction. And he had already killed seven men who tried to marry Sarah. Seven husbands. All dead on their wedding night.
Then came a young man named Tobias. He was about to marry Sarah, but the same evil spirit threatened him. What Tobias didn't know was that God had already sent someone to help him. Saint Raphael the Archangel.
Raphael accompanied Tobias on his journey, protected him from danger, and taught him how to overcome the evil threatening his marriage. Not by giving in to fear, but through obedience to God, prayer, and trust in divine protection.
And here's the powerful part. Before beginning their married life, Tobias and Sarah turned to God in prayer. Through Raphael's guidance, the demon was driven away, and their marriage was protected. What began as a story of fear became a story of deliverance, purity, and holy love.
This is why Catholics have long called upon Saint Raphael when fighting temptations against chastity. Whether you're struggling with pornography, unwanted impure thoughts, or desires that feel impossible to control, you can ask for his intercession.
But Saint Raphael is more than a protector against temptation. He is also the heavenly companion of travelers, the healer of the afflicted, and a guardian for those walking through life's uncertainties.
His name means "God heals." And sometimes, the healing we need most begins in the heart.
On this blessed Feast of Saint Raphael the Archangel, let us turn to God with this beautiful traditional prayer, asking for the same heavenly protection that was granted to Tobias.
Let us pray.
O God, who gave blessed Raphael the Archangel unto your servant Tobias to be the companion of his wayfaring: grant unto us your servants; that we may ever be protected by the guardianship of this same Archangel, and defended by his help. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Remember this. The same God who sent Saint Raphael to guide Tobias is the God who watches over your journey today. Whatever temptations you face, whatever fears burden your heart, and whatever difficulties lie ahead, you are never beyond the reach of God's mercy and protection.

Heavenly Father,
I come before You today asking for the grace to forgive, even when my heart is hurting and the wounds feel too deep to heal. You know every hurt, every betrayal, every disappointment, and every tear I have cried. You know how difficult it can be to let go when someone has caused us pain.
Lord Jesus, teach me to forgive as You forgive me. Take away the bitterness, resentment, anger, and desire to hold on to the hurt. Help me release the pain into Your hands instead of carrying it in my heart.
Give me the humility to acknowledge my own faults, the courage to forgive those who have wounded me, and the wisdom to learn from what I have experienced. Help me remember that forgiveness does not mean excusing wrongdoing or allowing someone to hurt me again. Teach me that I can forgive while maintaining healthy boundaries and protecting the peace You have given me.
Jesus, when I struggle to forgive, remind me of Your mercy upon the Cross. You prayed for those who hurt You. Give me that same grace, so that I may love without hatred, release resentment without seeking revenge, and move forward without allowing yesterday’s wounds to control tomorrow.
Holy Spirit, soften my heart where it has become hardened. Heal the places where resentment has taken root. Give me peace where there has been turmoil, freedom where there has been bondage, and love where there has been pain.
Father, I place every person who has hurt me into Your hands. I surrender the things I cannot change, the apologies I may never receive, and the answers I may never understand. Help me trust in Your justice, Your timing, and Your perfect wisdom.
May my heart become free through Your grace, my soul grow closer to You, and my life reflect the mercy You have so generously shown me.
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine.

Sometimes you’re suffering more in your head than you are in reality. You replay the conversation. Analyse their tone. Read between every line. Try to figure out why they changed, what they meant, what you did wrong and what might happen next. And before you know it, you’ve created a hundred possible explanations for something you may never actually get an answer to. Not everything needs to be understood. Not every change in someone’s behaviour needs a detailed explanation. Not every unanswered question deserves to consume your peace. Sometimes you have to accept that you don’t know and let that be enough. For the sake of your peace, stop trying to understand everything. Some things are meant to be accepted, released and left unanswered.
