I heard @PeterGuthrie99 delivered a powerful speech in the legislature last night. Conservative voters who stand by the principals by which the UCP was founded, like protecting Charter rights, should be voting for his new party in the next election. #abpoli #airdrie #cochrane

The same people to purposely stopped recording class sizes, deleted all past class size records, and ignored any attempt to manage class sizes…..
Now wants to pay millions to friends and family to create a task force to magically come up with their pre-conceived conclusions

456,365 signatures!
This is a historic mobilization of Albertans by @LukaszukAB and his team with #ForeverCanadian!
This is more than a full quarter of votes cast in the last provincial election!
More than needed by HALF!!!

Today, I submitted 456,365 Albertans’ signatures to Elections Alberta, petitioning the Premier to do the right thing, avoid a divisive and economically harmful referendum, and allow MLAs to vote and reaffirm that Alberta’s future is in Canada.🇨🇦

The Alberta NDP built 169 new schools from 2015-19. They also completed 75 replacements and modernizations of existing schools.
From 2019 (UCP elected) to today they have built 28 new schools over 6 years.
The UCP doesn't believe in public education.

How are they going to find 3000 people to hire who don’t mind being treated like trash by their employers?
Do you need a job and hate having rights? Alberta!
Today we announce Bill 2: the Back to School Act.
If passed, this bill will put student learning first, ensure our children return to the classroom on Wednesday, October 29th and legislate a fair reasonable collective bargaining agreement for Alberta teachers. On top of $8.6 billion to build and modernize 130 new schools, this deal will ensure:
✅ $70k to $119k salaries
✅ 3,000 extra teachers
✅ 1,500 more education assistants
We know there is more work that needs to be done.

First, the UCP didn’t listen to teachers.
Then, the UCP ignored their pleas.
Now, the UCP is silencing them.
How evil do you have to be to take away someone’s rights because they dared advocate for children?
Wake up AB. Stand with teachers. #FireTheUCP

A shameful first for Alberta.
The UCP is using the Notwithstanding Clause to force teachers back to work and impose a contract 90% rejected.
This is an attack on workers' rights and a distraction from their failure to fund our classrooms.
We condemn this abuse of power.

The notwithstanding clause should never be used to subvert democracy and the rule of law.
This is why clear guardrails and guidelines must be instituted.

It's general strike time. An assault of this scale on the labour rights of teachers in Alberta is a threat to the labour rights of every worker in the country.

Nothing says “strong and free” like taking away constitutionally guaranteed freedoms.
Replying to @DuaneBratt
Using the notwithstanding clause is an admission that the government is stripping the human rights and charter rights of citizens.

I appreciated the apology for giving teachers zero salary increases. It doesn't fix things, but at least she's aware of the issue.

“This isn’t a left-right issue. It’s a constitutional one.
UCP chose to use time allocation & the notwithstanding clause not because it had no other legal path, but because it wanted to set a precedent:
When opposition & rights are inconvenient, it will override them.” #ableg
The UCP government has invoked time allocation on a bill removing Albertans' Charter rights.
And they're using the notwithstanding clause to do it.
Here's why that is a dangerous precedent. And why real conservatives need to stand up against it.

Alberta is on the edge of a watershed moment
Hundreds of thousands of workers are about to decide: stand and fight for their rights…or let corruption and cruelty win
I know where I stand
I’m fighting
Because this is worth EVERYTHING
