Trump promised no more wars and lower costs. But then he launched a war that is making prices skyrocket. He lied, and he owns this disaster.
I, too, am βnauseously optimisticβ. Thatβs exactly the feeling.
NEW: Just got off the phone with @SenSchumer who says heβs βnauseously optimisticβ Democrats will have a good night and retake the Senate on Tuesday. Democrats, he notes, were facing a massive campaign spending disadvantage. But he believes the partyβs strong slate of candidates and strategy of expanding the Senate battleground map will carry them back into the majority.

Worth reading not just to understand how insane Musk is, but how insane we are.
We have allowed this man to become intrinsic to the economy of the United States. No human being, not even the president, is Constitutionally endowed with such powers.
If the next president is a Democrat one of the most important, most dangerous, most painful projects will be wresting control of America's destiny from this madman. It will cause a recession at best, the destruction of millions of retirement accounts, and jeopardize national security for years.
But the alternative is civilizational suicide.

"On Friday, Judge Ana Reyes learned that the Justice Department had been working on plans it told her didnβt exist. By the end of the hearing, sheβd opened an investigation into whether its lawyers lied to her court or broke ethics rules.
For weeks, the administration insisted there was no imminent plan to close East Potomac Park, even as Trump posted that the course would close November 15. This week, the Justice Department admitted in a filing that the park will close November 15, βconsistent with the Presidentβs directive.β
The department also acknowledged that officials had spent weeks on final golf course plans for the National Planning Commission without ever mentioning them to the court, including during a seven-hour hearing earlier this month.
βI donβt recall the court asking a question as to whether we were wanting to come up with a plan,β said Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward, the third-highest-ranking official at the Justice Department.
βAre you kidding me right now?β Reyes shot back. βAm I to understand that for weeks someone has been putting pen to paper on a submission to design the golf course while this litigation was ongoing, while Department of Justice employees were representing to me that there was no plan?β
She couldnβt get the department to say what the presidentβs own words meant, either. βThe third highest ranking official at the Department of Justice is telling me, telling a federal court, that he cannot say that when the president posted the βcourse will close on November 15,β what he meant was, βthe course will close on November 15β?β Woodward said he βcannot opine as to the presidentβs meaning.β
Reyes found that officials βintentionallyβ timed the removal of hundreds of healthy trees to get ahead of judicial review. Sheβd already written that they βracedβ to tear them down because the president βdemands haste on his redesign.β
This is more than a bad news cycle for Trump. An investigation into whether his lawyers misled a federal court puts individual attorneys at risk, and every claim the department makes in her courtroom from now on will be met with doubt. Woodward has already tried to get Reyes thrown off the case over her βhistrionics,β and she answered him with the court record. Trump called her βa crazed lunatic.β Now his lawyers are the ones under examination."
