I remember being a kid watching Clannad After Story after bed time and watching it sneakily on my iPad. My mom walked in right after a bad scene and I was crying really hard, I pretended to be asleep through it and she thought I was having a nightmare, woke me up and hugged meLOL
clannad after story fucked me up so bad that my brother had to come over to comfort me and even after that it still took 2 hours for me to feel kind of okay again.
10/10 but i'm never watching that shit ever again.

Zoomers will never be able to comprehend that our B movies used to be Christian Bale and Matthew McConaughey hunting Dragons in post-apocalyptic Britain.

Fridging is when a love interest is killed by a villain or other causes. When love interest becomes mutant Hitler that disintegrates people for the heck of it and the hero is left with no choice but to kill her, it's not fridging.
Professor X is who actually got fridged in that movie. Jean Grey dying in Logan's arms was a redemption arc for her after all the evil she had done since she let Logan kill her.
Why are MCU fans so bad at understanding basics of storytelling?

The fact that boys don't like reading is not because of some mysterious, 'underrated' reason. It's blindingly obvious that the vast majority of children's literature is not only not aimed at boys, but treats boys as a problem at best, in need of moral reform.
Young boys are being discouraged from getting into reading—and it’s because more books are missing one key element, @sophiah_n reports: theatlantic.com/culture/2026…

You watch that scene in Superman 2025 of Superman shouting at Lex and the audience about how he’s just as human as everyone else and you understand immediately why Denis Villeneuve hates dialogue.
I much prefer subtle visual storytelling over characters spoonfeeding the message.

different. Despite what I think some people want to think you can’t force boys to think and feel more like girls by shaming them for what appeals to them. The reason they gravitate to leisure activities other than reading is because those things appeal to them. It’s not hard.

This hypothetical ignores the fact that if the series was Harriet Potter it would be written differently because men and women are not simply interchangeable and what isn’t being acknowledged is that there IS a difference between what appeals to boys and girls because they’re ARE

Almost every, "core" whatever is performative bullshit. It's about being seen as the thing more than BEING the thing and it always turns into a competition to see who can be MORE the thing than everyone else. How about you just be sincere about being yourself.

Finally someone in the movie industry has the guts to say [not explicitly though] that the Oscar awards are a farce.
Well done, Matt Damon!
MATT DAMON SAYS THE OSCARS SHOULD BE DECIDED 20 OR 25 YEARS AFTER A MOVIE IS RELEASED
Damon argues that awards often reflect the hype of the moment rather than a film’s lasting impact.
He believes waiting decades would reveal which movies truly stand the test of time and still matter to audiences long after the initial buzz fades.
