👀 How is our million-dollar man STILL waiting for his forever home?! 🐴
🖤 2012 Standardbred Gelding
🖤 16Hh
🖤 Location: Richwood, OH
🖤 Learn more: newvocations.org/horse_detai…
WAKIZASHI HANOVER, better known as “Waki,” this handsome gelding earned over $1 MILLION during his racing career, including a legendary victory in the 2015 Pepsi North America Cup, where he handed Wiggle It Jiggleit his first defeat! 🏆 Safe to say, Waki knows a thing or two about stealing the spotlight.
Since retiring in 2020, Waki has traded the winner's circle for a whole new collection of adventures! He's worked with western and hunter trainers, enjoyed trail rides, traveled to events, and even made an appearance at the Kentucky Horse Park's Breed Pavilion. Talk about a résumé! 👏
Under saddle, Waki is an experienced, willing partner who has been ridden in a variety of environments, from peaceful trails to busy demonstrations. He prefers to pace rather than trot, has a lovely, balanced gait, and has even offered to canter! After returning to New Vocations due to his previous adopter's cross-country move, Waki is ready to find his next forever person. We'd especially love to see him with someone excited to showcase the versatility and talent of the Standardbred breed! 🌟

Not Northlands. Northlands as an organization was older than the province of Alberta. Century was a new operator in the province. This is @cntymile at a media preview event in October 2018.

I was there for 15 years total, and the wagerin was up year-over-year for each of the last 14. Miss the people, customers, staff, and horsemen every day. In that time, unlike most tracks, $50-million was spent on capital projects. Oh, the stories...

Surrey mayor-elect McCallum just said harness racing could return to Cloverdale by fall 2027, built on his election promise and one by Conservatives
Would involve @HRBC4, which worked to relocate said racing to Desert Park Raceway in Osoyoos.

Crimson Pine is entered in his twenty-third race of 2026 this afternoon at @PlainridgePark!

The excellent @Northlands Park simulcast lounge outlived the live harness racing by a few months.
A celebratory tone in racetrack closure & destruction coverage is cringeworthy.

There’s a lot more to working with horses than what people see on the outside. Dr. Sarah Hargrove of @roodandriddle shares how well those who care for horses come to know them and what makes that bond so special.
