I’m fully aligned with my countrymen and our people. We want the same future: dignity, freedom, and joy for our families and children.
That’s why othering those of us who support Team Melli feels so strange and counterproductive. Sport should unite us, not divide us further. Even when the regime tries to politicize it, I cheer for my fellow Iranians, for the players on the pitch, for the pride on the faces of our kids back home, for those rare moments of collective happiness.
I don’t wave the IR flag. Every success, I raise the Lion and Sun. But my support for Team Melli is for the people, not the regime. We’re on the same side. Let’s not let politics steal the last pure joys we have left.
