Your bank will no more pay the bank levy than your TV set pays the licence free, your car the road duty or your house the council tax. This tax will fall on all of us as borrowers or depositors. Banks can only COLLECT taxes, not PAY them. All taxes fall on humans. #Budget2026

The reporting by @jgro_the was factual, fair, proportionate and in the public interest. Smearing him for doing his job and doing it well is anti-journalism - anti-democracy if you really want to get into it - and people like Carole should think about where that line ends.
Not a single news outlet has reviewed its coverage of Jason Arday, for accuracy or proportionality. Zero attempt has been made to conduct any inquiry into the media’s role in his death. Instead, the industry has moved into self-congratulatory mode. This isn’t just tone deaf, it betrays a systemic failure

Sorry Angela, you are wrong. You have allowed antisemitic hatred to become normalised in our society - and have even gone as far as letting it drive government policy. Occasional conferences will do nothing to change the sad reality for British Jews. xitter.gq/AngelaRayner/status/21…
Jewish life is British life, and we must never allow antisemitic hatred to become normalised in our society. At yesterday’s antisemitism conference with @antisempolicy my message was clear: tackling antisemitism is a responsibility for all of us, and Jewish communities will not be left to carry that burden alone. 📸 Blake Ezra

Nothing highlights the fiscal failure of this government more starkly than the plight of Poundland. The chain's 600 stores and 12,000 workers sit on the verge of collapse, not because its customers have walked away - Poundland's sales grew by 6.7% in September - but because of this government's unaffordable tax rises, which makes it impossible to run a business that works on slim profit margins to keep its prices down for its customers. How ironic that a government preaching about helping the least well-off is forcing a company out of business that does just that.

So just so we are all clear. Despite his promises that he will not go faster than the public, he is *already* negotiating rejoin options with the EU. In all my days, I have never seen such a flagrant betrayal of voters. This will not stand.
Exclusive from @benclatworthy Britain is holding talks with the EU about a potential return to free movement and other options for closer alignment The Times has been told that the UK is discussing a series of options about the future relationship which are due to be unveiled within weeks Andy Burnham plans to set out his vision for closer ties with the bloc, including the potential of rejoining the union, and have a “conversation with the British public about our long-term future” The options that will be presented are being discussed with officials in Brussels to ensure both sides would ultimately be able to agree One source said all such routes would be “discussed using diplomatic channels” before any “big bang” launch of the options on the table thetimes.com/article/4ef6707…

Yesterday marked 100 days since Andy Burnham became Prime Minister. Keir Starmer’s government was hostile to free speech. But under Andy Burnham, things appear to be getting worse. Check out our scorecard below. It won’t be long before people see he’s no friend of free speech either👇

Antisemitism is rife in the UK Parliament
Whatever the punditry, whatever the propaganda, whatever the election result in Israel: replacing Netanyahu with Eisenkot won’t end the occupation, apartheid or the genocide of the Palestinian people. Both are war criminals. Both uphold a system that subjects 7 million Palestinians between the river and the sea to occupation, domination and dispossession. Different faces, same Zionist ethnonationalist project. I repeat once again: Zionism is racism.

There is nothing socialist about a system of free movement that is used by multi-nationals to undermine wages. WATCH my Brexit speech today.

I asked Labour MP Dawn Butler why she's demanding my constituents pay more tax to fund "reparations". She wouldn't answer, but called me a "racist" in the Commons. It's not right to make people pay "reparations" when they've done nothing wrong. Name-calling doesn't change that.

Today is Israeli election day. Anti-Israel accounts across the world - who have been telling everyone that the current Israeli government is the problem - will begin to say that it does not matter who the government of Israel is. Then, if Netanyahu does not hold onto power, whoever wins - and whatever coalition they form - will be painted by these same people as the worst and most extreme government Israel has ever had. Truth does not come into it. Nor does international law. Nor does support for democratic norms. It is irrational, antisemitic hate - a hatred that denies the Jewish people the right to self-determination and will try to undermine Israel whatever its borders, whatever move it makes for peace, and whoever is running the government.

Almost everything Burnham says in this piece is a lie. - We didn't get a "harder" Brexit than what was mentioned in the Referendum. We left with the most comprehensive trade agreement the EU has ever signed. - The small boats crisis didn't emerge because of losing "returns agreements". While we were in the EU we were a net-, recipient of illegal immigrants from these agreements, the small boats crisis has emerged because of a global surge in illegal immigration and pull-factors like our human rights laws. - Immigration within the EU was not "revolving door". It has been permanent, and significantly more than estimated at the time. Over 6 million people have come here on the EU Settlement scheme, double estimated. The Prime Minister is dishonest and cynical, planning to hand border control to the EU, and likely pay them British taxpayers money while he's at it. – at Merton, London

Oh dear … here’s Precious Andy explaining in 2016 that the free movement of people has destroyed jobs in the UK… He’ll say anything for power. But you must know that by now. It’s just a race to the bottom hey Andy?
