In major breaking news reporting from the New York Times, it is alleged that Marc Elias's law firm, senior aides at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Mary Peltola's campaign conspired to recruit people named Dan Sullivan in Alaska to confuse voters when casting votes in the election. Dan S. Sullivan is the name of the state's Republican senator. The scheme involved Peltola's campaign and her allies tracking down and persuading another Dan Sullivan to run for Senate, so the confusion would cost Republican senator Dan S. Sullivan crucial votes on the state's unusual, four-person ballot. The scheme succeeded in getting another Dan Sullivan placed on the ballot. On the general election ballot, Dan J. Sullivan is listed as “Daniel J. Sullivan Jr.,” without any party label. Dan S. Sullivan is listed as “Dan S. Sullivan (Registered Republican) Incumbent. Dan J. Sullivan switched from Republican to ‘undeclared’ ahead of general election. @DataRepublican

Alaska's second Dan Sullivan wasn't a coincidence, says the NYT. Peltola's team had a staffer comb voter rolls for every Dan Sullivan in Alaska. They called it the "ballot composition project." They found a retired teacher in Petersburg. Dan J. Sullivan. He's on the ballot. Campaign lawyers and senior DSCC aides were in on the calls. So was a Midwestern operative using a fake name. Peltola's campaign and the DSCC deny it. Her former campaign manager says Peltola was "definitely aware." Then she tried to take it back. The DSCC's defense is that Republicans do it too. That's not a defense. That's a business model. Ranked choice was sold as the cure for spoilers. Turns out it's a game board for them. You shouldn't need a strategy guide to vote. Or a middle initial.

In the Summer of 2025, Mary Peltola’s campaign was instructing staffers to "find as many Dan Sullivans as they could." They didn’t stop there. The Democrat campaign was also attempting to form a fake "MAGA party" to pull votes from Sen. Sullivan. They consulted this plot with Jacquelyn Lopez from the Elias Law Group.
