I've been waiting for this. @jockowillink made a movie – the way movies used to be made. The culture war against boys is not lost.
Everyone, "you can't make computers with American parts and labor!"
Palmer Lucky, "go f'k yourself."
Today, @anduriltech and @qualcomm announced a new laptop that will eventually be 100% made in America, a “first step” toward creating a market for U.S.-manufactured components and total technological self-sufficiency.
Building computers in America should be a matter of “national pride,” says @PalmerLuckey.

Definitely read.
This is a very compelling read.

This week's Open Opportunities post.
AUTOWAR25 Open Opportunities, week of Oct. 26. Open defense-innovation calls for autonomy and defense tech. 🧵
64 calls are open this week, 1 new. Newest: a Navy RFI on training, simulation and mission-rehearsal systems for Group 1 and 2 drones. Closing soonest: SOCOM's maritime survivability (TMS/TVEE) Vulcan call tonight at 10 PM ET, three Vulcan calls Tuesday, and four Air Force small-drone and counter-drone RFIs plus DIU's I-MEPDIS power call on Wednesday. Links in every post below.
Good morning! The AUTOWAR25 Morning Edition is up.
We're going to be playing with story mix the rest of the week – trying to weed out a little of the repetition of the same stories day-to-day.
AUTOWAR25 Morning Edition, Tuesday, Oct. 27. The top 25 autonomous-warfare stories, ranked. 🧵
Russia hit Kyiv overnight with ballistic missiles and 280 attack drones, striking a university campus and the city's Southern Bridge. U.S. Marines flew live-warhead attack drones into targets at Japan's Camp Fuji for the first time, and Saudi air defenses downed Houthi drones and missiles. Links in every post below.
Two controversial statements:
1) FPV has peaked as a technology – even as the world ramps up production and training. It will fade in importance starting today.
2) Making weapons “smarter” is actually the wrong (next) objective.
No matter how much compute we put on an effector, there will always be another 'dark spot in the woods.' Another unknown. Another reason to stop and ask a human. Another distraction from the larger mission.
We keep putting more autonomous weapons into the field, only to put a leash on every one. The warfighters have become professional dog walkers – watching what every dog sniffs.
That type of architecture will never scale. Smarter weapons are not enough. We need operational continuity.
Why haven’t autonomous drones fully replaced human FPV operators on the battlefield? Luke Allen (co-founder/CTO of @allencontrol discusses a key issue.
Computer vision can recognize a vehicle or person, but battlefield targets aren’t always visually identifiable. A bunker might look like nothing more than a dark spot in the woods. Identifying it as a target requires intelligence and context that an autonomous system may not have.
The American news media is the worst…
Have you met European news media?

Let me put up a scenario to show you how cool this is.
Imagine a small child wanders off from a rural home or a campsite. Often it takes hours to get the first dogs on the scene – hours more to organize a full search.
Imagine 2 operators managing 5-10 drones with lidar and thermal sensors executing an automated search rapidly. It's a game changer.
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks.
By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time.
Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.
Anyway, you were telling us that you were voting Democrat in the midterms because you’re mad at Trump…
And always stand with your back against the wall. Never stand next to the curb or the track.
🔥👀 THE CURRENT STATE OF PHILADELPHIA.
What you are seeing here is Chaz Wearing punching a man onto the tracks in front of a train in 2024.
He was FREE on the street with an outstanding bench warrant from a 2022 Upper Darby strangulation case.
DA Larry Krasner’s office didn’t charge him with murder … they charged him with involuntary manslaughter.
He never faces a jury. Democrat Judge Diana Anhalt hears the bench trial and acquits him March 3, 2025.
That strangulation case? He pleaded guilty in June 2024 and got 11½ to 23 months in county jail with credit for time served back to January 2024.
A man is dead. Victim’s name & photo were Never released. Local Philly stations cover it for a couple days. Then silence. No CNN, no NYT, no national networks.
When he was acquitted by the Democrat judge Philly local media didn’t even cover it… just KYW Newsradio ran the story.
The judge Diana Louise Anhalt also presided over the FIRST EVER SAME SEX MARRIAGE in Philadelphia. She is up for re election in 2032.
Who wants to take a guess at why it appears the media buried this? What is this victims name?

Sudan's RSF blacked out four army-held states with drone strikes on five power stations, and a drone attack on Russia's Voronezh killed two. Welp... he said it. The Democrat party is Socialist.
UNDERCOVER: GAVIN NEWSOM SAYS THE DSA IS "GOING TO BE DOMINANT" AND "MAINSTREAM" IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY!
"The DSA, the energy and the desire and demand for bold change, not incremental change, is very much going to be dominant. I mean, that's going to be a mainstream Democratic movement. Absolutely. No question about that."
That's California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a likely 2028 presidential candidate, speaking to an undercover journalist while campaigning in New Hampshire.
Asked by a "younger voter" who said "we don't want Kamala Harris, we want more democratic socialist policies":
"No one is arguing to manage the status quo and fail more efficiently."
"You can't play in the margins anymore. The system's broken. It's completely unbalanced, and we can't manage the decline. We have to completely reimagine."
What American company will answer the call.

Meanwhile, in Josh Shapiro’s Pennsylvania, “assignments asking students to ‘honor’ a Hamas-backed resistance movement and identify the United States and Israel as terrorist states.”
Philadelphia parents tried to see what their kids were learning in social studies. The school district stonewalled them.
It took a congressional investigation to finally expose what was in the curriculum: assignments asking students to "honor" a Hamas-backed resistance movement and identify the United States and Israel as terrorist states. A House Education and Workforce Committee report documents how a small group of school personnel turned the district's social studies program into a political platform for extremist causes.
A teacher eventually shared the materials with an outside advocacy group — but only anonymously, fearing retaliation for disclosing what should be public information. Parents should never need an insider, an advocacy organization, and congressional investigators just to find out what their children are being taught.

Solves so many challenges with the American industrial base.
More of this!
PCBs made in America. Twice as fast as Shenzhen.
Today @CircuitHub is unveiling The Grid, our factory-scale robot in Massachusetts that builds circuit boards on demand.
No changeovers, no per-design setup. Prototypes and production batches, fully automated.
Here's the crap that is the absolute stupidest in the DoW – software ATOs.
1) The DoW has mandated reciprocity for three administrations. @SecWar's DoW is only the latest.
2) A small business goes through all the effort and expense to obtain an Authority To Operate (ATO) with one Authorizing Official with a Joint Authority – in this case @DIU_x.
3) Air Force looks at the AO's name and organization and just says "no," never once actually looking at the body of work.
Tell me again that the DoW is friendly to small businesses.

Russia sent 140 attack drones at Ukraine overnight, about half of them jet-powered, while a drone attack on Russia's Voronezh killed two and likely struck a petrochemical plant and an aircraft factory. Russia is also telling its data centers to go underground and add drone defenses after Ukrainian strikes. Links in every post below.
