Right, let's knock this on the head now. If you're calling for the security services to release details about the identities of the suspects of an ongoing terror investigation less than 24 hours after the alleged attack, you're a moron. And you have no business even pretending to be a candidate for high public office.

Ian, the comments from the Tory MP are appalling. Quite as bad as anything I would expect from Reform.

The arson attack on the Prime Ministers home shows how far Russia will go to threaten the west.
All the mad right wing rumours that went round were total lies. It was a Russian backed attack on our democracy.
Solidarity with the Prime Minister.

Our discourse is now so corrupt the Russian firebombing of the PM’s home, and lies about Starmer using rent boys, are ignored by "patriotic" conservatives The country is under attack and they are so lost in culture wars they cover up the threat

Let's just reflect on this for a moment. For the past few months a group of people who style themselves "patriots" have been peddling propaganda on behalf of a foreign state after it sponsored a firebomb attack on our Prime Minister.

So when are we going to get tough about dealing with it? and exporting Reforms links to Russian?

When people normalise that and also talk about politics being broken you know they are hypocrites and part of the problem

But there’s a poll I think showing half their members want Reform to win. Which perfectly captures their existential crisis.

Real change means tackling disadvantage head on. Replacing our deeply regressive council tax system is the kind of big, bold reform that would genuinely improve lives in northern towns like Hartlepool, putting more money back into the pockets of the people who need it most.

Without minimising the dire results for Labour, it’s extraordinary how chipper the Tories are.
They’ve lost 500 seats from a low watermark, lost major councils to Lib Dems and Reform, show no signs of recovery in the esp LD areas they need to win.
Labour lost *every single seat* on Kirkless, where the party holds 4/5 MPs.
We are seeing some of the most fragmented results in councils that combine a white working class vote with a large ethnic minority population - e.g. with Mill Towns like Kirkless/Burnley.

Looking at who has been elected, it’s hard to imagine that the new Reform group will be entirely cohesive!

The Tory wipeout is interesting. Has perhaps been coming for a couple of years as they seemed to have lost most of their recent activists to Reform, but I expected them to cling on in a couple of wards.

True. In Calderdale where I was a councillor, the conservatives were the main opposition to Labour. They now have no seats, and as far as i can see, have lost most of their activists to Reform.

This isn’t altogether surprising and suggests Matt Goodwin was talking off the top of his head. The only election-loser I can recall who displays comparable gracelessness is George Galloway.

So let me understand. The conservatives would ban Muslims from performing any act of worship in a public place. Would this also apply to Hindus? Jews?
