This is a wonky but important issue. As we think about tokenized security entitlements and the opportunity for issuer-sponsored (native) tokenization, it’s worth remembering that most investors aren’t the registered holder of their own shares. Cede & Co. is. That’s as true for stock held at your brokerage firm as it is for tokenized entitlements. DTC’s proposed DRS upgrade, which aims to cut the time to move shares out of DTC into direct registration from days to minutes, is the right first move. Now let’s make it seamless: one step from a DTC token to a directly registered token, published processing times, and the same speed coming back to street name. That’s how tokenized models, DTC’s and issuer-sponsored, compete on their merits, and how investors get to move freely between them. Nice work @SecuritizeBilly
If you own a share of stock today via a broker-dealer, you're probably not on the company's books. Cede & Co., which is owned by DTC, is. Yesterday, Securitize submitted a comment letter to the SEC on DTC's proposal to modernize the Direct Registration System (DRS), the process for moving shares from Cede & Co. to the transfer agent's books and records, and we strongly support it. DTC wants to cut the time it takes to move shares via DRS into an investor's own name from days to minutes. That matters a lot for tokenization. It's the on-ramp to issuer-sponsored tokens, where the investor is the registered owner of the real security, on-chain. Not an IOU. In our letter, we asked DTC to take it one step further: let investors move from a DTC token into a directly registered token in a single step. We also asked for published processing times and the same speed in both directions. Do that, and moving between street name and a directly registered token becomes even faster and simpler, in both directions. Tokenization works best when investors can do so without friction. Great work by @SecuritizeBilly and our team. Letter below sec.gov/comments/SR-DTC-2026…

ICYMI - @Securitize spent nine years building what a new entrant would have to rent, acquire, or skip. Led by @Observatory13 and @carlosdomingo, Securitize built a moat. A tokenization stack of SEC-registered subsidiaries bringing financial assets onchain: > Securitize Markets, LLC: An SEC-registered broker-dealer that runs an alternative trading system (ATS), matching buyers and sellers of securities outside traditional exchanges. > Securitize Transfer Agent, LLC: An SEC-registered transfer agent since 2019, maintaining the official record of who owns each tokenized security. > Securitize Capital, LLC: Approved as an SEC-registered investment adviser (RIA) in July 2026, offering advisory services and structuring tokenized investment products. > Securitize Fund Services, LLC: Provides fund administration and digital asset reporting services for 663 funds and $24.3B in assets under administration (AUA). This stack lets @BlackRock, @vaneck_us, and @apolloglobal bring funds onchain without building in-house infrastructure. Securitize is registered to tokenize what is projected to become a multi-trillion-dollar industry in the 2030s. If tokenized share classes and issuer-sponsored tokenized equity become standard, Securitize is positioned to become a default infrastructure option.

As companies weigh how their shares trade onchain, our CEO @carlosdomingo told @CoinDesk their questions are reasonable. On the issuer-sponsored path, a company brings its own shares onchain, decides who can hold them, and stays connected to shareholders. Tokenize the World.

Whoever made this could've saved a lot of copy if they made the "WHAT YOU CAN DO" section just "Talk to Securitize". This negativity is surprising but it's created a welcome window for educating issuers on tokenization and we look forward to leading the way.

This ad is misleading; it mixes tokenization with how it is done and where those tokens trade. None of those concerns apply to proper tokenization done in the US under SEC regulations and traded on regulated venues. This is the damage that offshore synthetics are doing to the industry and the backlash they are creating. I see this as a tailwind for companies like ours doing it the right way, which was never easy, but it's a durable long-term business model.

And if we do our jobs it will all be onchain. 😁
Americans now hold 48% of their financial assets in the stock market. It was 39% in the dot-com bubble right before the crash.

We’re welcome this cycle to educate as many issuers as possible on tokenization.
Many companies opting out of tokenized stocks don't know what it means Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo on the 3 ways companies are responding to OKX's tokenized stock opt-out notices: "OKX has already started sending these notifications to issuers. Actually, we're one of the issuers that is listed. So we actually got the notification saying, do you want to opt out or not?" "Some people like us and others that are familiar with the space, when we get that email talking about tokenization, we know what they're talking about. And we obviously are not going to opt out." "I just had a conversation yesterday with a banker that one of the CFOs of a Fortune 500 reached out to them saying, I received this notification, but I don't know what it means. Before I say yes or not, I want to educate myself." "The third one is people that apparently are opting out without even having the conversation, which I guess is a reflection of the lack of knowledge about what it means to them."

Live music has continued growing in spite of recording, or now with streaming being widely available so this is a lesson here for what will happen with stock trading when it becomes more widely available via tokenization statista.com/chart/30261/est…
Btw, @scottmelker shared an interesting anecdote in our chat today that I didn't know about: early 20th-century artists rejected recorded music and radio broadcasts because they thought it would cannibalize concert attendance, which mirrors what is happening in capital markets today with tokenization. I found this article online that explains what happened back then, and it is worth reading medium.com/@gabrielsolis_121…

This whole interview was really great, come for the issuer education below, stay for the discussion on how today's tokenization evolution parallels how musicians in the early 1900's couldn't wrap their heads around the idea of ....... wait for it...... records!!! Early!
“Nobody will say, I don’t want my stock to be more liquid.” Securitize CEO @carlosdomingo on why public companies have little reason to opt out of tokenized trading: more investors, more liquidity, 24/7 access for eligible investors, and a direct line to shareholders.
