Just got back home after winning(!) the @YoungWriterYear. A passenger overheard my missus and me talking on the train and then the whole carriage full of lovely & absolutely hammered randoms took turns holding the award and shaking my hand. One of the best nights of my life!🙏🖤

So sad to hear about the loss of Walter Koenig. Such a nice guy and when we were on the convention circuit together a pleasure to hang out with. Here he is with Celeste Yarnall in “The Apple”, one of my favorites of the oddball episodes. Farewell.

This was just posted over on Facebook by @GeorgeTakei . #AdAstra Walter - and Pavel 🖖 My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man. Just last month, on Sept. 14, he turned 90, on the same day Brad and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. I will always treasure that he and I shared that date. Walter was more than Chekov. He was a writer, a teacher, a thoughtful man, and a loyal friend. To the fans who loved him for so many years, thank you. He loved you too. Rest well, my dear friend. Keep navigating a steady course. – George

I think the fact that Marissa Mayer would voluntarily disclose this to a reporter is a pretty good demonstration of how deeply the culture of Silicon Valley has diverged from the rest of humanity

i bought and read these two books when i was 17 because of the covers and found them insane and depraved. i haven’t read them since, but always thought the final note in almost transparent blue was incredibly romantic

R.I.P. Ryu Murakami (1952–2026), enfant terrible of Japanese literature and author of "Coin Locker Babies" "Almost Transparent Babies", "In the Miso Soup" and "Audition". He was also known for directing TOKYO DECADENCE and for Hideaki Anno's adaptation of his novel LOVE & POP.

The iconic story behind Pinhead holding a baby In 1992, actor Doug Bradley was doing press in NYC for Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth. While walking around in full Cenobite makeup, a fan handed him their baby for this legendary, surreal photo op!

This one's spectacular. In the 1960s, London's Mews were still being used to keep horses. This clip spoils us with a lovely glimpse of the people, pubs, and lifestyle among the cobbled backstreets that have since become expensive housing. They certainly had more personality then than nowadays. @Britains___Pubs

I am deeply fascinated by the modern right's insistence that "the elite" is a category that does not actually include the ultra wealthy who dominate society and dictate many of its laws, and is instead made up of socialist teachers, anti-genocide protestors, and "woke" baristas.

Another gem Fielder interview is the promo he did with cast of The Night Before: Anthony Mackie, Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Seth Rogen. Rogen and Fielder were high school classmates in Vancouver and placed 3rd in a national improv competition as a team. This promo best collab since.
Early Nathan Fielder. He got to interview his boss on the air and made it as awkward as possible.

Hellraiser is about a woman blowing up her whole life and family because only a thrill seeking sociopath buries her needle. The cenobites are incidental and their lore outside the text is uninteresting. The daughter is there to bear witness.
