What if Africa’s greatest untapped economic resource is not beneath its soil, but within its culture?
I completely agree with this vision. African countries must stop treating culture as merely something to preserve in museums, festivals and history books. Our traditions, crafts, fashion, music, art and indigenous knowledge are economic assets waiting to be fully exploited.
We should be industrialising our cultural heritage, investing in local artisans, building globally competitive brands, protecting intellectual property and creating markets beyond our borders.
Culture can create jobs, attract investment, drive tourism, boost exports and give African products a competitive global identity.
We cannot keep celebrating our heritage while importing the economic value of other people’s cultures.
Africa must learn to turn its cultural identity into economic power without losing its soul. Thank you for that
