according to skysports, mclaren says they've changed a few components and they found lando's issue with the fuel injection that's costing him 1-2 tenths in the straightline speed. lando said he's hopeful and is waiting to get on track to see how it is 🤞🏼

Getting some hate about the Ferrari gaps, and the haters may have a point. Here's a look at teammate race pace gaps, which uses a slightly different methodology. It measures the gaps between every driver in the field, instead of vs the leader, which is how it's done in the main violin plot. This method puts Hamilton -0.283 ahead of Leclerc in Sepang. I've said many times on this account -- race pace over a single event is always going to be noisy, no matter how you cut it.

jolyon palmer pointed out that oscar forgot to activate his straight line mode on the first safety car restart which was a big part of why it was so easy for max to pass him

Nico Hulkenberg had the quickest pit stops in the Azerbaijan GP, 17.7s lost per stop on average. Piastri 17.8s. Norris and both Alpines around 3s slower than that.

No tire offsets in this data. It's something we're working on in the background but - isolating a tire deg signal in F1 is extremely difficult to do. It's more complex and nuanced than F1twt makes it seem - *Any* methodology measuring race pace over a single race is going to be noisy - The per-race noise (strats/tires etc) starts to smooth out across bigger samples like this, giving us a decent reading overall. But yeah the reality is race pace - whether it's clean air pace, or tire adjusted etc - is always just going to be a lot noisier than quali pace.

f1tv said that lando could face a grid penalty if he needs to change certain power unit components this weekend following his issue in FP2. however, some teams may be running older spec parts on friday to avoid putting their latest components at risk on the new circuit, so it will depend on what spec mclaren is running on lando's car.

Lando Norris takes pole over George Russell by a tenth at Zandvoort. Here's where the lap was won. The McLaren was monstrous through the quick and twisty second sector, and held on the rest of the way.

Why is it lowkey giving this…
Which tracks allow the most overtakes? Miami is firmly midpack, allowing 34.2 per race.

"I was so surprised when they [FIA] said no, we will sort out qualifying and leave the racing alone because it's exciting. As drivers we've been extremely vocal that the problem is not only qualifying, it's also racing and we've [GPDA] been warning that this kind of accident was always going to happen." "Here we were lucky there was an escape road, now imagine going to Baku or going to Singapore or going to Vegas and having this kind of closing speeds and crashes next to the walls. I or we as GPDA, we've warned the FIA these accidents are going to happen a lot with this set of regulations and we need to change something soon if we don't want them to happen. It was 50G I heard, it's higher than my crash in Russia in 2015, I was 46G. Just imagine what kind of crash you could have in Vegas, Baku etc." "I hope it serves as an example and the teams listen to the drivers and not so much to the teams and people that said the racing was okay because the racing is not okay." [Q: I was just trying to see exactly what the closing speed was because we were looking at it on camera and you think today might help you guys in your request to the FIA too?] F1 2026 || Japan
