🇮🇱 An Israeli actress said on TV she’s no longer proud to be Israeli, then found out she was live the whole time She blamed everything happening now on the occupation, then panicked when she learned it was on air and later apologized for going too far. She thought they were on a break, but it all went out live on national TV. Rule number 1 in TV: the commercial break only starts when they tell you. Writer: Daniyal

Piers Morgan: What was it you were smirking about? Moser: I was actually laughing... A recently founded settler colony, Israel, which was founded in living memory... ranting at an Iranian, saying that his country is fake, Iran, one of the most ancient countries in the world.

BREAKING: Antisemtiism is now when you don't want to see the Ali G movie 👀
Sacha Baron Cohen's Ali G sequel lasted one weekend in theaters, and the Hollywood Reporter is blaming pro-Palestine activists, and discussing "Hamas-affiliated operatives.” THR detailed a campaign by UK-based NewsCord, whose platform gave users AI-assisted templates to email cinemas; NewsCord says about 55,000 emails went out. THR then pointed to the group's support for Gaza aid flotilla participants, whose leaders the US Treasury designated "Hamas-affiliated operatives." NewsCord, which calls Ali G a form of blackface, accused THR of drawing "conspiratorial links." Amazon MGM opened the film on just 23 screens, withheld box office figures, and moved it to Prime Video five days later, per World of Reel.

The Times has published 0 stories about an Oxford lecturer who was recently charged with child porn offences. Coincidentally she is also a right wing journalist and Michael Gove's girlfriend.
Replying to @jgro_the
Recognition from fellow journalists is much appreciated as this is undoubtedly a difficult and polarising story, with a tragic outcome. Many people still do not accept its legitimacy but it was an important public interest story which sparked public debate about key issues of our age timeshighereducation.com/opi…

Why is there a lack of coverage about this?
#YourVoiceMatters #JasonArday has been cleared of plagiarism for a fourth time. Why is the media silent about it? As another investigation ends without substantiating plagiarism claims, @richardsudan asks who will hold the British media accountable for its treatment of the pioneering Black academic?👇🏿 voice-online.co.uk/opinion/c… @aljhlester @SholaMos1 @misanharriman @BellRibeiroAddy @GoodLawProject

In 1835, a British colonial administrator named Thomas Macaulay wrote a document known as the Minute on Indian Education. He did not hide what he was doing. He wrote, in plain language, that the goal was to create "a class of persons Indian in blood and colour, but English in tastes, in opinions, in morals and in intellect." Not educated Indians. Not Indians with expanded access to knowledge. Indians who had been replaced, from the inside, with something more governable. He put it in an official document. He signed it. It became policy. And yet somehow, when people describe the colonial education project as a deliberate instrument of cultural erasure, they are accused of being dramatic. The man wrote it down. The drama is his, not ours.

Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o understood it with absolute clarity. You do not need chains if you have classrooms. You do not need to physically prevent a people from imagining their own freedom if you have already shaped the language in which they think. If the colonized child learns to read in the colonizer’s language. If the colonized child learns that the "great books" were written in the colonizer’s language. If the colonized child learns that the history worth knowing begins with the colonizer’s arrival. If the colonised child learns that success, sophistication, education itself, is measured by proximity to the coloniser’s standards: That child does not need to be imprisoned. That child will imprison themselves. Will measure themselves against a standard designed to find them lacking. Will work their entire life to approximate an ideal that was never constructed to include them. Will call this effort "self-improvement." The classroom was the most elegant instrument the colonial project ever designed. More durable than any fort. More effective than any army. Because armies are visible. Forts can be stormed. But a belief installed in childhood, in the voice of a teacher, in the language of learning itself, that is nearly invisible. And what you cannot see, you cannot dismantle.
