SO MANY people commenting on this equate "bad parenting" with "the mother should be prosecuted." They're totally different things! The bar for upending a family due to bad parenting needs to be SO HIGH. Way higher than "I personally would not make this choice."
This is rage-inducing. It’s not “child neglect” to let a 14-year-old babysit. Law enforcement also took these kids to their dad, who’s facing battery charges and has an active restraining order against him. How does that make *any* sense?

Law firm goes to the doctor, says its partners are leaving and it’s worried the firm will disintegrate. The doctor says “treatment is simple. The great restructuring firm Weil is available tonight. Go and see them for advice on your options” “But doctor…”
New color on what went down this weekend at Weil, a culmination of issues that have been plaguing the white-shoe law firm for years. Over 40 partners gone, M&A talks with Willkie over, and top brass is calling outside restructuring counsel for advice. You hate to see it.

I went out for some half-and-half yesterday. They had surgical scissors, gauze, sutures, body bags, even a bone saw. But no half-and-half. Twenty minutes wasted walking to and from the coroner store. I suppose I should have called first.

If Americans had to deal with the dog ownership rules of Denmark, the UK, or Italy, their heads would spin. Our failure to properly regulate dogs is one reason why I think the need for a pit bull ban here is actually greater than in other countries.

Nobody else at the cafe cared! A nearby table told her to "please quiet down the child" because her 90 year old mother was trying to enjoy her brunch. Nobody cared except the child and his parents. When the mom tried to find out if the dog had been vaccinated for everything, the owner told her to shut up.

If you ever stop to really really think … it’s *mindboggling* that our our densest, more expensive cities have more dogs than little kids It’s dystopian to a Brave New World degree

Having Codex replace bad, outdated, or unsupported software for my hardware devices has become a hobby for me at this point, especially moving into macOS 27. It's completely resurrected my favorite desktop scanner and label printer from the grave!

I genuinely do think there are a lot of basically good people who have never really thought about the ways in which they are behaving badly as dog owners, because nobody ever really calls them out for it. If your dog is ever off leash, you are being antisocial and behaving badly. If your dog ever jumps on somebody who didn’t specifically ask for that to happen, then you are behaving antisocially (even if the dog is just being “friendly”). If you have an invisible fence in your yard, but your dog comes running right up to the line at full speed only to stop at the last minute and bark at everybody who walks by, then you are behaving antisocially. Honestly, even behind a fence, this is an aggressive and annoying imposition on anybody walking by. If somebody has ever respond with fear or annoyance at something your dog has done and you’ve reflexively protested, “oh don’t worry, he won’t hurt you” or “he’s friendly” then that’s antisocial behavior. (You should just simply say, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that, I won’t let it happen again” and then you should work to actually make it not happen again. Telling people not to worry, that you think your dog is just peachy, is bad behavior.) This is all bad behavior. It’s all antisocial. And I have these experiences with dogs and their owners routinely. This is all extremely common stuff.
The primary problem with widespread dog ownership and car culture is growing entitlement and anti-social behavior of owners People who just break rules and then feel as though YOU are a problem for caring because they “aren’t hurting anyone” and to “mind your own business” So they park in bike lines, refuse to pick up shit, let dogs off leash in places where it’s specifically prohibited.

If you are a lawyer and you sell real matter files to a data procurement company, you should be disbarred. I don't care what they say they redact. This is not hyperbole. You should permanently lose your license to practice law.
We’ll pay you up to $100K for every company you refer that licenses its data to @Mercor. We’ve partnered with > 500 companies so far. If you know a company with 100+ employees and data in code, gaming, manufacturing, healthcare or professional services, refer them at data.mercor.com/refer.

The ACLU is a good example of an organization that is being hollowed out by activists who don't understand its real mission. The goal is not to protect "vulnerable" communities. The goal is to protect civil liberties.
NEW: The ACLU of Indiana is in turmoil after several of its most influential civil rights attorneys submitted their resignations in protest of the organization's direction under its board and incoming leader, multiple sources told @indystar . indystar.com/story/news/poli…
