I feel like people are just talking past each other at this point. It is not that the MOU in a vacuum was the thing that made people mad. In fact, had it worked, it would have been politically advantageous. But that's the issue. It was never going to work, and it was obvious at the time that it would just make things worse by dragging them out. Why? Because it set in place a predictable cycle of stalling and humiliation at the hands of the Iranians, and allowed them the runway to do it right up until the election. The war had already happened. If the goal was to get out, the most viable move was to just declare victory after blowing up their nuclear sites and go home. You get to say mission accomplished, and you immediately begin to put daylight between the war and the election. Instead, the MOU ensured the worst possible outcome, practically and politically. That's why people are saying it was a problem.
