Since 2013, a dedicated group of female #VPD officers has been volunteering and giving back to the community through the VPD Women’s Personal Safety Team. Their mission is to educate, inspire, and empower women to take charge of their personal safety. An all-day hands-on workshop took place last weekend, where these officers taught practical, easy-to-remember self-defence techniques that required no previous training. The goal is to help women feel more confident, prepared, and able to respond if they ever face a dangerous situation. The workshops are made possible by the generous support from the Vancouver Police Foundation. Learn more: bit.ly/4zJ34oo @VanPoliceFnd

Graffiti damages businesses, cultural landmarks, and neighbourhood pride. Thanks to vigilant community members and proactive police work, VPD officers arrested three individuals in two separate graffiti-related mischief investigations in Chinatown this week.  Due to timely witness reports, police were able to catch offenders in the act and seize multiple cans of spray paint as evidence.  Protecting businesses, preserving cultural spaces, and addressing vandalism remain priorities for the VPD. To see more about how VPD Cst. Freddy Lau is helping, check out Project Muralize @VanPoliceFnd #Chinatown #VPD

🦭🦭🦭 Three seals of approval. Last Monday, three rehabilitated harbour seal pups made their triumphant splash back into the wild off Bowen Island. This heartwarming return was made possible thanks to an ongoing partnership between @VAMMRS and the Vancouver Police Department Marine Unit. Teamwork keeps our local coastal wildlife safe.

Out On Patrol is proud to have a delegation of members in Amsterdam this week for the European LGBT Police Association (@lgbtpoliceeu) Conference. Prior to the conference, we had the honour of visiting the Embassy of Canada to the Netherlands in The Hague. @CanEmbNL We are grateful to Ambassador @AdsettHugh for welcoming our delegation and hosting us in his office, where we enjoyed engaging conversation with him and members of the Embassy team. We appreciated the opportunity to share the work of Out On Patrol and to have a productive conversation about the 5th World 2SLGBTQ+ Conference for Criminal Justice Professionals, which Out On Patrol is proud to be co-hosting with the BC Association of Chiefs of Police next year in Vancouver. Our delegation included representatives from the Vancouver Police Department, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), demonstrating the strong collaboration between our organizations in advancing inclusion and supporting 2SLGBTQ+ criminal justice professionals. A huge thank you to our CBSA board member and the CBSA Liaison Officer at the embassy for coordinating this visit, making this valuable opportunity possible. The warm welcome and meaningful discussions set the stage for a productive week, and we look forward to continuing these important conversations throughout the EGPA Conference. We can’t wait to welcome the global criminal justice community to Vancouver next year. 🇨🇦
