Facts Cannot Be Replaced by Repeated Allegations Despite my detailed clarification yesterday, Opposition Leader Shri Pinarayi Vijayan continues to repeat the same allegations of irregularities in Keralam’s electricity procurement. Repeating an allegation does not make it true. Let me again place the facts on record. ⚡ Where Is the ₹12.50 Himachal Pradesh Offer? Yesterday, I challenged the Opposition Leader to produce documentary evidence that Himachal Pradesh formally offered electricity to Keralam at ₹12.50 per unit. Even today, he has failed to provide any answer or document substantiating this claim. Should we conclude that he now realises no such confirmed offer was made? ⚡ The Timeline Exposes the Flaws The chronology is clear: 📌 18 October 2026: Rajasthan had already decided to procure electricity from Himachal Pradesh. 📌 28 October 2026: The proposed agreement was placed before the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission. 📌 30 October 2026: The file containing KSEB’s recommendations reached me, as Chief Minister, for a final decision. The Rajasthan process was already underway before the file reached my office. ⚡ Was the Power Crisis Real or Artificially Created? The Opposition Leader asks why the government did not accept the Himachal Pradesh proposal recommended by KSEB, while alleging that the shortage in Keralam was artificially manufactured. What a contradiction! If there was no genuine shortage, why does he repeatedly question the decision not to procure from Himachal Pradesh? Official KSEB records show that KSEB itself informed the government of the shortage and the urgent need for additional power. Despite these explanations, the same allegations continue. ⚡ GNA Was Also Considered by the Former KSEB Chairman The Opposition Leader criticises procurement through GNA. However, the official note from the former KSEB Chairman explicitly included GNA as an option worthy of consideration. Is he unaware of this, or conveniently overlooking what the former Chairman placed on record? I note that Shri Pinarayi Vijayan has now acknowledged that the GNA platform was also used during his government’s tenure. This fact should not be overlooked. ⚡ On the Demand for Documents and Transparency The Opposition Leader repeatedly asks where the supporting documents are. During his tenure as Chief Minister, can he identify even one instance when his government provided documents requested by the then Opposition? On numerous occasions, legitimate questions went unanswered. Yet the CPM-affiliated organisation within KSEB appears to have already furnished him with the relevant documents. If he requires additional records, he may obtain them through official procedures. ⚡ Decisions Are Taken After Scrutiny, Not Blindly Every decision is based on careful examination of files, facts, technical recommendations and financial implications. The electricity procurement file was thoroughly examined before a decision was made in Keralam’s interests. We do not blindly sign every paper, nor treat official files as tissue paper. The people of Keralam deserve responsible governance, informed decisions and accountability. UDF government will continue to act in the State’s best interests, ensuring reliable electricity while protecting the public from unnecessary financial burdens. Allegations can be repeated endlessly, but they cannot substitute for documentary evidence, factual consistency or responsible decision-making. #VDSatheesan

Awaiting a Journey of Love. Like lakhs of readers around the world, I too eagerly await Smt. Sonia Gandhi Ji’s memoir, Belonging: A Journey of Love. Her interview with veteran journalist Shri N. Ram, Director of The Hindu Group, has only deepened my anticipation of reading, in her own words, a remarkable life shaped by love, personal loss, resilience and unwavering determination. At a time when India’s secular traditions and constitutional values face serious challenges, Soniaji’s memories and convictions carry profound significance. Some lives become part of history. Some memories become a guiding light for generations. As a reader, I eagerly await this journey through hers. @SoniaGandhi @INCIndia @INCKerala @nramind #VDSatheesan thehindu.com/news/national/s…

The allegations raised by Opposition Leader Shri Pinarayi Vijayan regarding Keralam’s power purchase agreements are baseless and contrary to the facts. The UDF Government’s decision was guided by one overriding priority: preventing prolonged power cuts while protecting the people of Keralam from unnecessary financial burdens. Here are the facts: ⚡ The ₹12.50 Himachal Claim: The Opposition Leader claims Himachal Pradesh reduced its proposed tariff from ₹14.50 to ₹12.50 per unit. However, the former KSEB Chairman’s official note dated 29 October 2026 explicitly states that ₹12.50 cannot be treated as confirmed without written acceptance from the competent Himachal authority. No such confirmation was available to KSEB. The proposal routed through intermediary PTC carried a tariff of ₹14.50 per unit, including its margin. Rajasthan had already approved a power purchase arrangement at ₹15.50 per unit on 17 October. Where is the documentary evidence of the supposedly guaranteed ₹12.50 offer to Keralam? I challenge the Opposition Leader to make it public. ⚡ Why GNA Was Preferred: Our decision prioritised reliable electricity during critical non-solar and peak-demand hours. According to KSEB’s own assessment, GNA would provide 385 million additional units during non-solar hours compared with the Himachal proposal. During the crucial evening peak between 6:30 PM and 10:30 PM, GNA’s proposed 500 MW supply was substantially higher than Himachal’s average supply during December–March. 1/2

Additional daytime supply would also enable us to conserve hydroelectric resources for the summer. The Himachal proposal exceeded the ₹10 per unit upper tariff specified by the Regulatory Commission, creating additional financial implications for the State Government. Ironically, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan’s own government purchased electricity through GNA on multiple occasions. Why conceal that fact now? ⚡ The Power Shortage Was Real: Keralam experienced power cuts in September. Emergency procurement from other states and public-sector entities helped avert further disruptions in October. KSEB conducted six competitive tenders through the Union Ministry of Power’s DEEP portal, but could not secure sufficient electricity to meet the state’s requirements, particularly during non-solar hours. The former KSEB Chairman’s official note warned that deficient rainfall, constrained hydro availability and reported El Niño conditions could lead to prolonged power cuts, including during the critical summer months, unless firm replacement supplies were secured. These were KSEB’s own assessments, not an artificially manufactured crisis. ⚡ Market Prices and Financial Responsibility: The Opposition Leader argues that electricity was available in the market at ₹5 per unit and that GNA would cost ₹3.50 more. By that same comparison, the Himachal proposal at ₹14.50 would cost ₹9.50 more per unit. Why does the Opposition Leader conveniently ignore this difference while defending the more expensive Himachal proposal? ⚡ No Bypassing of the Electricity Minister: The file was officially forwarded to me by the Electricity Minister for a decision. It was not summoned by the Chief Minister’s Office. After examining the comparative tariffs, peak-hour availability, supply reliability and financial implications, I took a decision in the best interests of Keralam. The people elected this government to exercise judgement, not to blindly sign every file placed before it. ⚡ The Opposition Leader’s Own Record: The previous UDF Government secured a long-term electricity agreement at ₹4.29 per unit for 25 years. Shri Pinarayi Vijayan’s government cancelled that agreement after eight years of utilisation, subsequently leaving the state dependent on expensive purchases from private agencies at rates reaching ₹14 per unit. Those responsible for such decisions have little credibility in lecturing this government on financial prudence. Our position is unequivocal: Keralam will not be subjected to avoidable power cuts or unjustified financial burdens. Every decision will be taken in the interests of the people, with accountability, scrutiny and fiscal responsibility. 2/2 #Keralam #KSEB #PowerPurchase #KeralamGovt

Not even a trace of sorrow should touch your heart. As I inaugurated the State Special School Festival alongside Education Minister Adv. N. Shamsudheen, saw the beaming smiles of those wonderful children, my mind immediately went to the anxious faces of their parents. Each parent bears a deep, painful worry in their heart: 'What will happen to our children after we are gone?' Reaching out to those anxious hearts, I give you our word once again: we will never leave these children behind. Please do not lose hope or give into despair. We are here with you, holding their hands. Always and forever. #VDSatheesan

To the Legend Who Turned Football into Poetry Dear Cristiano, Thank you for turning football into poetry, for making stadiums tremble with your magical feet, and for teaching generations to dream without limits. As you bid farewell to the Portugal jersey, you leave behind more than records, goals and trophies. You leave a legacy etched in the hearts of millions, especially Malayalis, for whom football is not merely a game but a way of life. You proved to the world that extraordinary hard work, unwavering determination and the courage to rise after every fall can take an ordinary person to extraordinary heights. Your fighting spirit has inspired millions of young minds to dream bigger and never surrender. In the muddy playgrounds of our villages, countless children chased dreams inspired by your iconic number 7. Every goal, every victory and even every tear of yours became a part of our own emotions. We may no longer witness your brilliance in Portuguese colours, but you will forever remain in the hearts of those who fell in love with football through you. Thank you, Cristiano, for the magic, the memories and the dreams. You may have left the international stage, but legends like you never leave our hearts. Once a legend, forever an inspiration. @Cristiano #CristianoRonaldo #CR7 #VDSatheesan

No, There Must Never Be Another Sidharthan. The idea for this app was born from the tears of Sidharthan's mother. When I visited the family after his tragic passing, her words, “No other mother should ever have to suffer this fate,” touched me deeply. Her pain became the inspiration behind this initiative. Ragging has no place on any campus in Keralam. If any such incident occurs, the government will take stringent action against those responsible. This is our solemn promise. @rojimjohn #SidarthanApp #VDSatheesan
