The attack on KIIFB by the new @vdsatheesan govt is really sad. Institution building is a humongous task. Good roads, bridges, public schools are due to quality monitoring by KIIFB. I spoke to economists whose unanimous opinion is: 'Don’t kill KIIFB' newindianexpress.com/states/…

Friends, in just two days, Christians were murdered on two continents.
On Friday, gunmen opened fire on a funeral at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Karak, Jordan, and killed nine people. On Saturday, armed men attacked Orthodox churches and homes in Oromia, Ethiopia, and killed more than forty.
These are not statistics. They are our brothers and sisters, members of the mystical Body of Christ. When Saul set out to destroy the Church, the risen Jesus asked him, “Why are you persecuting me?” The Lord is still being persecuted in these victims of anti-Christian violence.
Christianity is by far the most persecuted religion in the world today. Those of us who worship in comfort have to ask what the deaths of these martyrs demand of us. At the very least, they demand that we pray for them, learn their names, press our leaders to act, and refuse to look away.
The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.
Jesus said "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing" - Luke 23:34

Noel Tata counters process to rename Chandra, seeks board meeting records, Venu Srinivasan’s role:
Noel Tata has turned increasingly aggressive in the escalating power struggle within the Tata Group, taking the battle over corporate governance, boardroom accountability and control of the conglomerate into a potentially explosive new phase.
In a direct challenge to the process through which N #Chandrasekaran was reappointed Executive Chairman of Tata Sons for another five years, #TataTrusts Chairman #NoelTata has demanded audio and video recordings of a crucial board meeting, questioned the filing of the reappointment resolution with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, challenged Director Venu Srinivasan’s role and sought disclosures about reported commercial dealings between #TVSMotor Company and a company associated with Chandrasekaran’s immediate family.
The sweeping demands signal that Noel Tata is no longer content with raising objections behind closed doors.
He is seeking to put the decision-making process under scrutiny and force answers on issues that strike at the heart of corporate governance, transparency and accountability at #TataSons, the principal holding company of the #Tata Group.
By questioning not merely the outcome but also the procedure followed to secure Chandrasekaran’s reappointment, Noel is challenging the legitimacy of the process and demanding that the board explain how a decision of such significance was reached.
The demand for audio-video recordings is particularly consequential. It raises questions about what transpired during the meeting, how the proposal was discussed, what objections were raised and whether the proceedings were conducted with the rigour expected of a company.
The demand for clarity over the filing of the resolution with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs adds another layer to the confrontation, putting the spotlight on the documentation and procedural steps through which the five-year extension was formalised.
Noel’s questions over Venu #Srinivasan’s role further sharpen the conflict, bringing the conduct of individual directors into the line of scrutiny.
His demand for disclosures concerning reported commercial dealings between #TVS Motor Company and a company associated with Chandrasekaran’s immediate family is potentially even more sensitive. The issue calls for transparent disclosure and a clear account of the nature of the reported dealings, without presuming wrongdoing or a conflict of interest before the facts are established.
The confrontation raises fundamental questions about the balance of authority between Tata Trusts, which hold a controlling stake in Tata Sons, and the company’s board, as well as the extent to which directors are answerable for decisions involving the group’s leadership.
Noel’s intervention threatens to turn what might otherwise have been a boardroom disagreement into a wider test of accountability. If the questions he has raised remain unanswered, the dispute could deepen distrust among stakeholders and intensify scrutiny of the process through which the group’s top leadership is appointed.
The message from #Noel’s latest move is unmistakable: the reappointment is not beyond scrutiny, and the board cannot expect its decisions to escape questions simply because they concern the head of the Tata empire. #RatanTata #Chandra #SDTT #SRTT #MCA #RBI #NBFC #CIC

RBI Governor hints that Tata Sons may have to go for listing
The #RBI appears hell-bent on pushing Tata Sons towards an IPO. But what is driving this relentless insistence on listing? Who really stands to benefit? The move suits those #TataSons directors who have turned against #NoelTata and #TataTrusts, while placing the Tata Group’s culture, heritage, ethos and legacy at stake. When a regulatory mandate threatens to collide with the very legacy of an institution, a fundamental question remains: Are the board and the regulator protecting the public interest, or unwittingly playing into the hands of those seeking to reshape the #Tata empire? Culture, heritage, ethos, legacy and #Parsi sentiment — apparently, all can go to hell. #IPO

That's right. Your politics should be _downstream_ of your faith. Your faith dictates, informs, and forms your politics.

It seems that yet again this message has to be shared!
The Catholic Church is not a political party, no matter how much some try to use our faith for their own political agenda, it shall be in vain.
Only truth in Christ shall prevail always.
God sees all.

That’s the spirit of a jury worth having — spirited debate, independent minds, and the diplomacy to forge consensus. Thank you, Dr Tharoor, for steering the deliberations with such wit and finesse! @ShashiTharoor @NewIndianXpress @TheMornStandard
A lively meeting of minds at yesterday’s jury deliberations for The @NewIndianXpress’s RamNath Goenka Sahitya Samman 2026. A pleasure to chair a spirited exchange with fellow jurors on books, ideas and the remarkable diversity of Indian writing. The difficult part, of course, is choosing among them, but we managed to achieve consensus without any volumes being flung!
