Southern through the ages Gala
This weekend 😍
Don’t miss your chance to see our USA tank back in service, last seen out and about in 2016 😄

Unfortunately the SE counties just get lumped in with London by many people. Equally if you just see where you live as a dormitory for work in London then it is unlikely to inculcate a sense of local pride.
Interesting YouGov poll carried out in 2025: 53% of people in Cornwall feel a very strong attachment to their region, compared with 15% in Bedfordshire.
Kent has the strongest county identity in the South East- 29%.

Fr Chad, at least in my opinion, has been one of those fuelling the unhealthy interest in the demonic by Catholics and secular society. Most exorcists work quietly and have no wish to glamorise their work.
The Archdiocese of Denver said Fr Chad Ripperger agreed to a year-long pause from public speaking and interviews, though it did not explain what prompted the request.

Today is the Feast of St. Wilfrid.
An extremely formidable and influential English monk and bishop who worked to strengthen ties between the Anglo-Saxon Church and the Papacy.
My former convent school was dedicated to him and on this day we would process through the town.
Funnily enough the conciliarists in the 15th century discovered people bore quickly of regular unnecessary meetings. I guess once again we learn that man learns nothing from history.

At times, the endless “synodal process” feels like bishops and cardinals fiddling while Rome burns.
Across the West, Mass attendance collapses, churches close, vocations disappear, Catholic marriages and baptisms decline, and millions no longer know even the rudiments of the Faith.
And what is the institutional response?
More meetings. More listening sessions. More committees. More reports. More consultations about consultation. Vast quantities of time, money and episcopal energy poured into discussing “process”, “participation” and “structures”.
Imagine if even a fraction of those resources had been devoted to evangelisation, catechesis, reverent liturgy, strengthening Catholic families and forming priests.
The Church already has a mission. Christ gave it to her: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.”
We do not need to spend another decade discerning whether we should be a missionary Church.
We need to get on with the mission.
I agree a compassionate society does not kill people; so why does she and so many members of the C of E support abortion "rights"?
🚨 Archbishop Sarah Mullally has again intervened to oppose the assisted-suicide bill that MPs will vote on this Friday. She writes that her experience as a nurse "underpinned and informed by [her] Christian faith" has led her to this position.

This must have been caused by climate change or a lack of synodality. (This is of course sarcasm).
Baptisms in Ireland fall by 30 per cent in 10 years, study finds.

I agree with His Holiness of course. It would be interesting to survey parishes worldwide and find out in what % that statement is reality. For me, I am hoping to begin by having our primary school children learn the missal tones rather than just having a hymn sandwich.
I had an argument with a chap once at dinner (I was a permanent way engineer at the time) who insisted we never needed to close the railway at weekends etc because it could all be done at night. I told him if that was the case the railway would hire him!
If anyone is still wondering why we needed to close Charing Cross station, and why we needed to do it when trains weren’t running, here is a very 'quick' look at the immense work that took place over the last 22 days.

A letter worth pondering. For me the stand out quote, which summarises so much of the modern world (which the Church seems desperate to imitate), "bureaucracy can create the illusion of activity whilst reality shows the opposite".
‘The World Is Not Waiting for a Synodal Church’
In an open letter to Pope Leo XIV, Dutch Bishop Rob Mutsaerts says people in the West today need clear and confident proclamation of the Gospel rather than permanent ecclesial consultation.

Ok so if a community of Catholics discern they want the Old Mass we should listen and change the current culture. After all to refuse would surely make one guilty of not listening, clericalism, hierarchialism and self sufficiency?
I always doff my hat to monarchs that are prepared to resign rather than pass wicked legislation, unlike a certain family in this country many Catholics fawn over.
>o povo de Liechtenstein quer legalizar o aborto
>o príncipe católico não quer
>teve uma ideia
>lança um referendo para ter o poder de vetar leis aprovadas
>ameaça renunciar e deixar o país se a votação falhar
>o povo aprova por 65-35
>anuncia que vai vetar qualquer tentativa de legalização do aborto
>o povo protesta
>simplesmente ignora
>o povo realiza uma votação para remover seu poder de veto
>a votação falha por 25-75

This Bill's "ultimate purpose is to end human life" - Archbishop John Wilson.
Our grandparents, parents, sons and daughters deserve care, compassion and love - not death.
Christ is the reason we raise our voices on behalf of those who are vulnerable. It is the light of Christ which we must make visible to a world that finds it impossible to live in hope.
Be the light of Christ in our society and take action before 11 September 👇

One could also apply this argument to the increasing number of non Roman rite Masses that are becoming available in England, particularly the Syro Malabar. These often withdraw significant numbers of Catholics from local parishes to SM Mass centres.
Well, what Card. Roche claims in The Tablet this week may very well be true. Until it isn't.
