A reminder: If gold miners were a single sector, they would have the cleanest balance sheets, the strongest profit margins, and the most attractive valuations in the market today. tavicosta.substack.com/p/top…

In the last two sessions the DXY Index has rallied ~ 50 basis points. Gold is up 1.6% and GDX is up 3.3%. I’m just taking notes 📝

Well, thank you for clarifying. $GDX has that HH and HL on the weekly chart.
Silver - TA can make it incredibly clear & simple if you want it to. Back in July, so many were certain the low was in, but that was wrong (again).

France’s political and social unrest reflects a deeper sovereign debt crisis, rising borrowing costs and accelerating currency debasement. Matthew Piepenburg joins David Lin to explain how debt problems become monetary, currency and ultimately social crises: ow.ly/L0AH5100XIc.

According to an article in the Journal of Finance (2022), when borrowing AND asset prices boom together, the odds of a crisis jump to ~40%, vs. ~7% normally. Today, AI is checking BOTH boxes. CREDIT BOOMS AND SOARING ASSET PRICES ARE A DEADLY COCKTAIL.

Gold: the levels we're watching: Support 4000-3880. A brief undershoot can't be ruled out, but we'd see it as the final sell-off into our Q4 low. A re-break above 4100 should trigger a first reversal towards the 2026 bear trend at 4350-4500.

After dropping 78% since 2022 (ouch!), $XLE was clearly oversold vs $GDX (see the RSI). You could spot a bounce from the moon. But how about spotting when the bounce is over?

Sharp recovery above 55.5 will the first sign I will be looking for. #SILVER
Here is why I think #SILVER's test of support area is very important. A cluster of technical supports between 50-55 area.

Nobody denies that $USOIL and $XLE had blistering rallies while $GDX miners and gold $GLD corrected hard. However, since the July bottom, the performance of $XLE $XOM vs GDX is not that stellar. What if gold and GDX bottom (soon) and start a good rally? It's possible. Then...
Confirmed & convincing breakdown for gold miners versus oil. I'd be surprised if we don't get a backtest of some kind though.

$GDX up 7% vs $USOIL since Oct 23. That was the low below the weekly Bollinger band and a bounce to the mid or upper band is coming. False breakdown? GDX and USOIL dead even since March with gold and miners correcting hard! $GLD @NorthstarCharts @StocksFormula

$XLE $XOM $NEM $GDX Gold miners bottomed in July. If energy stocks cannot outperform the miners since then (more than three months), with gold correcting hard and oil raging, then you have a hint of what is coming.

Gold is approaching a critical juncture. After another sharp decline, it's getting closer to our key price levels. Meanwhile, our leading indicator is sending a similar signal. Gold remains under pressure below $4,300. But what happens near support could tell us a lot.

Amundi Says ‘Worst Is Behind Us’ as Gold Flirts With $4,000 Amundi SA, Europe’s largest asset manager, expects a recovery in the gold price to around $4,500 an ounce following a selloff that dragged the metal to a three-month low. “The worst is behind us,” said Lorenzo Portelli, head of cross-asset strategy at the Amundi Investment Institute. Traders’ positions are light following last week’s retreat, he added, which is “in favor of a rebound in the next weeks.” (Bloomberg)

🇺🇸🇬🇧🇯🇵 The typical American, German and Brit are all POORER than they were in 2020. The typical Japanese? Over 50% richer. That’s median wealth per adult after inflation, from UBS’s latest Global Wealth Report. The typical American and German are both down almost 20%, and the Brits got hit hardest of the 3, losing 23.6%. France is down 12.2% too. Japan, meanwhile, posted the biggest gain of any country UBS tracks, followed by the UAE, up roughly 40%. FEWER THAN HALF the countries in the report have a typical adult who’s better off than at the start of the decade. 6 years, a pandemic and an energy crisis later, and the “rich” West has some explaining to do.
