After one select committee, National's bill has gone from a U16 ban to mass internet censorship
We have a front row seat to where this ends. The UK arrests 12,000/year for social media posts. People marching in the streets against immigration policies they can't protest online.
Proposed bill expansion:
⚠️A new independent internet regulator with power to create binding rules without going back to Parliament
⚠️Force platforms to hand over proprietary algorithm designs to the regulator
⚠️Regulate recommendation systems
⚠️Explore restricting VPN use
⚠️A catch-all recommendation to "consider further matters" and task them to the regulator - the blank cheque
That's a relief miss Johnson.
I could have sworn we flood our job market with 3rd world migration.
And that our leaders cosplay as third worlders to appease ethnic voting blocks they created.
And that Kiwis were leaving because their birthright was handed to the third world.
When Wong said her own parents must choose between their savings, leaving an inheritance or their home under Op's Land Tax, she spoke on behalf of a party who listed her job on Seek.
OPP leadership change is just a Seek ad away. Perhaps her parents understand: "just my job, Mum"
Qiulae Wong admits Opportunity’s “70% of New Zealanders better off” claim under their LVT, doesn’t include the equity people lose from the 10–15% house price drop.
She defends this by saying: “We’ve looked at the modelling that takes house prices down by 10-15%, but then they will increase again over time.
But their own policy says: “We project that a 1.75% annual Land Value Tax on residential and commercial land would cause a 10-15% reduction in property prices… Yes, That’s the point.”
The whole point of the Opportunity’s policy is to permanently lower house prices, so Wong now treating the equity loss as just temporary is farcical.

If you thought it was impossible to hate @chrisluxonmp and his insane Indian FTA deal any more than you already do...
Just watch this.
Both @NZNationalParty and @nzlabour have betrayed New Zealand on a scale once thought impossible.

Tyrannical Ecstasy: National and Labour overwhelmed with desire as their joint resolution to censor those who grant them power draws near.
When our major 'opposed' parties have identical policies, choice is a lie.
Ending the Uniparty is a win regardless if you're left or right
Note the "National goes it alone" headline. National always intended to invoke the Grand Coalition to bypass any objection from any coalition partners standing up for free speech and the right to anonymous dissent.

“We’ll join Australia in introducing a new ‘Digital Duty of Care’ law” said Labour’s Reuben Davidson, yesterday.
Australia’s first draft gave the minister power to decide what counts as harm. It was dropped after warnings it could be used for political censorship. Labour’s version, announced yesterday, makes platforms protect Kiwis from “harmful content”, with a regulator to fine them if they don’t.
"Harmful" isn’t defined at any point, and the vague and subjective concept of online "harm" has been one of the key tools of censorious governments across the West.
Labour hasn’t told us who decides what is "harmful" here, but based on the "podium of truth", we aren't holding our breath.

ACT 2025: Free speech is the foundation of democracy.
ACT 2026: There are limits to free speech because religion.
Q. for @Parmjeet_Parmar
The State of Punjab gave you an award in 2019.
In April they made it a crime, punishable by up to 20 years, to blasphemy Sikh scripture.
In light of your actions against Tamaki, do you denounce their attack on free speech?
ACT voters deserve to know.
Western democracies have abolished blasphemy laws. Do you intend to bring India, Pakistan and Iran-style speech censorship to New Zealand? Or do you uphold freedom of speech even if it deeply offends a religion?
2019: Punjab’s then-government honoured hundreds, including National MPs Parmjeet Parmar (now ACT) and Kanwaljit Bakshi, for Sikh founder Guru Nanak’s 550th anniversary.
April 2026: Punjab passed a blasphemy law: up to 20yrs for sacrilege against Sikh scripture; life for “conspiracy to disrupt communal harmony.”
June 2026: Parmar asked NZ Police to investigate Brian Tamaki’s response to church burnings. His point: Christians don’t retaliate. Imagine if they did. Religion, not race.
Today: Tamaki is due in court on three counts of inciting RACIAL disharmony. Up to 3 months’ jail or $7k each.
My view: prosecuting speech about religion is a blasphemy law by another name.

Free Brian Tamaki
Once again the state is persecuting a priest with malicious prosecution to silence dissent.

When justifying National's online censorship bill, Erica Stanford said NZ should be 'aligned with Australia'.
National is copying the speech control blueprint of a far-left foreign government. And that's exactly why Labour agreed to salvage Stanford's bill.
@NZNationalParty has lost 25% of their voter base in the last 23 months. A consequence of not being 'aligned' with the will of those who granted them power to govern.
How is this not the most important KPI for them? CEO Luxon leads them to oblivion.

@chrisluxonmp boasts of importing younger, better qualified immigrants. A recent report highlighted by Simon German @simongerman600 says immigrant children score 19 points higher on tests. There’s the comparison. But what about the cost nobody measures?
New Zealand’s children rank 38th out of 38 on UNICEF’s child mental well-being table. Our children are struggling at school and with their mental well being long before they enter the workforce. Meanwhile, 25% of Kiwi teenagers are reportedly unemployed, around seven times the adult rate. Unemployment among those under 25 is another part of the picture. Adults with degrees arrive into an economy where our own young people struggle to find their first job.
And what does Luxon do? Penalise the parents. From November, the Government will require eligible 18 and 19 year olds to pass a parental assistance test to qualify for Jobseeker Support. Those struggling to find work become a financial responsibility shifted onto their families.
The uncomfortable part is what comes next. One in three foreign born adults here already holds a degree, and we’re preparing to bring in another 38,000 international students. Yet we keep invoking a skills shortage while too many Kiwi teenagers cannot get a foot in the door.
At what point does a skills shortage become a failure to develop our own talent? A country cannot endlessly celebrate the qualifications of those it imports while neglecting the prospects of those growing up here. Our children deserve the chance to succeed at school, enjoy good mental well being and find meaningful work when they leave education.
There is also a question of political responsibility. If Section 131 of the Human Rights Act is intended to address certain forms of inciting racial disharmony, the standard must be applied according to the law and the evidence. But political rhetoric that reinforces racial divisions deserves scrutiny, too. Legal liability and political accountability are not the same thing.
Luxon’s words may be intended as celebration. The concern is what they obscure: the risk that New Zealand’s own young people become an afterthought in a system that prizes pre-selected qualifications over developing local potential.
We cannot keep calling it a skills shortage when the shortage confronting so many Kiwi teenagers is a first job. It's time to hold the NZ Government accountable.
Attention @nzpolice I'd like to report a possible crime under Section 131 of the Human Rights Act 1993...
Tamaki was charged under Section 131 of the HRA which deals with race. It is about the only section for which criminal charges can be brought - the rest are civil. His comments during that time were focused on religion not race from what I understand.
When replying to media questions about her dobbing in Tamaki and the confiscation of his firearms, ACT's Parmjeet Parmar said yes there is "freedom of expression but there's also freedom of religion".
She seems to believe the latter is more important - if so, that would be applying her home country's practice of placing religion over civil liberties - not the Western world's.
