In my opinion, the decline in social life and relationship formation is caused by the steady advances in entertainment technology.
First it was TVs, color TVs, then the internet and cellphones, smartphones, and then lately doomscrolling or machine learning optimized engagement, and to a lesser extent gaming.
Apps profit from attention, because they can sell ads and subscriptions. However, attention is zero sum. There are only so many hours in the day, so spending time on one task comes to the detriment of others.
Interestingly, Robinson (2009), showed that watching TV came at the expense of social time. So tech's influence has been a gradual one and is not a recent phenomena.
I suspect the age of AI will dissolve the last social bonds between humans commensurate with the rise of hyper entertainment.

So Gulf monarchies pour billions into Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners, Affinity becomes the largest shareholder in Israel’s Phoenix Financial, and Phoenix holds hundreds of millions of dollars in companies supplying the Israeli military with weapons and equipment used to commit genocide in Gaza and Lebanon.
Saudi, Qatari and Emirati capital goes to Kushner’s fund and to a major Israeli financial institution which supplies the Israeli arms industry.
Is this one of the reasons for Jared’s whining post on here?
⭕️ Jared Kushner's investment firm is the largest shareholder in an Israeli financial company with at least $456 million invested in nine firms supplying Israel's military, CNN reports.
Kushner's Affinity Partners holds a 7.4% stake in Phoenix Financial, worth over $1 billion. Phoenix's holdings include:
➤ $265 million in Elbit Systems, Israel's largest arms maker
➤ $40 million in Reshef Technologies, which makes fuzes for shells used in Gaza
➤ $68 million in Next Vision, which makes cameras for military drones
➤ Phoenix also holds stakes in Caterpillar, whose D9 bulldozers are used by the Israeli military to ethnically cleanse communities in Gaza (as well as other parts of occupied Palestine and Lebanon), and in Israel Shipyards, a key Israeli Navy supplier.
Kushner sits on the Board of Peace overseeing Gaza. In August, after Hamas accepted a Board of Peace disarmament roadmap, Gaza saw its first week-long lull in new killings since October 2023. Kushner then met Netanyahu in Jerusalem, who showed him public opinion polls finding most Israelis want strikes in Gaza to continue, Axios reported. The talks ended with Kushner giving Israel a “green light” to keep striking Gaza, Haaretz reported. Israel has killed more than 200 Palestinians since.
Kushner said last year he meets Phoenix's leadership every few weeks. The White House called the conflict-of-interest concerns a "tired narrative."

US military-intelligence leaks to media are designed to dissuade Trump from escalating his war (we’re out of missiles & interceptors, Iran isn’t; Iran won’t break, etc). Whereas Israeli intel leaks to media are designed to rile Trump into escalating the war by calling him a pussy
BREAKING: Israeli media, citing unnamed Israeli sources, reports that US President Donald Trump and his advisers are seeking a deal with Iran "at any cost".
The report says Israel is obtaining most information from Washington indirectly.
