There’s a comforting story about how humanity escaped poverty: capitalism. One variable, one chart, one conclusion. Incomes were flat for ten thousand years, then capitalism arrived and the line went up. It’s wrong, spin, myth. A lie. Let me tell you why🧵>>>

Typical bollocks from Lacalle. MMT does not say any such thing.
MMT tells you a monetarily sovereign nation can issue all the currency/debt it wants and nothing will happen, claiming that currency and market volatility can easily be eliminated by cancelling the capital account. This nonsense can only be promoted by someone that does not understand that the currency collapse and creditworthiness slump are driven by domestic citizens and savers rejecting the local currency; it is not an evil conspiracy of foreign investors. Furthermore, no nation is monetarily sovereign. It always depends on demand. Try to force use or restrict flow, and the currency is worth nothing. And local citizens are the first to reject an increasingly worthless currency issued by an irresponsible government. You are welcome

MMT isn't saying governments should print money. It's saying they ALREADY do. That's just a fact.

Tell you what blows my mind MMT Fanboys telling us that since we can print our currency goverments should do so to promote growth and investment without recognising that goverments cannot spend or direct resources efficiently.

And that. children, is why brave Mr Putin daily murders Ukrainian civilians in their homes, markets and schools and denies the legitimacy of the country.
You must be one of those types who think the West can do no wrong, given the chance the west would subjugate 🇷🇺 probably not physically but economically and politically just like it does to other nations who dont get with the program. You know this.

I analyzed hundreds of tweets from this past weekend and found evidence of two unique disinformation campaigns amplifying Elon Musk’s accusations against Ukraine. One of these campaigns can be traced back to a Russian social media account and one of Putin’s top allies. my latest. (Link 👇)

Agreed. My posts linking Musk to Russia are ruthlessly suppressed by the X algorithm. Given my follower base they would be pretty popular were more than a handful of people allowed to see them. – at Brighton, England
It really seems like Elon Musk is pushing everything anti-Ukrainian, anti-Zelenskyy, pro-russian, and pro-putin on X, while quietly suppressing the reach of pro-Ukrainian content. At least that’s the impression I’ve been getting lately.

Just so we’re all on the same page. We don’t want people on minimum wage wages going up. Is that right? Got you. Does that mean we also don’t want anyone else’s wages going up? And last question when outside things like Brexit, wars, Trumps tariffs, shortages, energy price increases etc make products and services more expensive……. We still don’t want wages to go up? Sorry I’m new to this, I’m still trying to figure out how it all works

Try answering this tricky question, is Elon spending 300 million on the midterms because he wants to promote the interests of American people, or is it to protect himself & his businesses? Gee, it's a toughie.🤔

Question for you. Should banks be able to lend money they don’t have? I mean normal business loans that companies use to expand. Also, how do economies grow?

Try this experiment asshole. Without A public sector. Without a state; no health, education, courts, legal system, central bank, security or protection; without a public transport network, safety, welfare or social security… How do you have an economy?

Is it professional desperation that lead a man to write such nonsense? Or just a lack of understanding?
First, governments spend too much. Then, they tax too much. After, they print more to "stimulate" the economy. Thus, inflation soars and they economy stagnates... And they repeat.

In a monetary production economy, banks create money by lending, not by handing it out in turns. Property and power shape access to credit. Backstop finance, austerity for everyone else? That’s capitalism protecting itself. Blaming money is the alibi

Who is threatening Russia? Which of its neighbours? Who is Russia threatening? Whose civilians is it currently murdering? Which societies is it actively undermining?
You can call my account whatever you like, it still doesn’t answer the point. Russia has been raising concerns about NATO expansion since the 1990s…that’s a documented fact, not Kremlin propaganda. You can believe those concerns don’t justify Russia’s actions, but claiming nobody could possibly threaten Russia’s security is a different matter. Even NATO’s 1997 agreement with Russia recognised that security concerns should be discussed through consultation. Why is Russia not even allowed to raise them?

“But Russia also has security concerns, and those concerns cannot simply be dismissed because they come from Moscow.” Why not? Are Russia’s security concerns reasonable and proportionate? No. Is anyone threatening Russia? No. Is this account a Kremlin shill? Absolutely yes.
Ukraine can have its own military. Nobody is arguing otherwise. But Russia also has security concerns, and those concerns cannot simply be dismissed because they come from Moscow. The issue is what happens when Ukraine’s military is increasingly integrated with NATO, an alliance Russia has opposed expanding towards its borders for decades. So why is Ukraine’s security treated as the only concern worth discussing, while Russia’s is dismissed outright?
