US homebuilder confidence has plunged to its lowest level since 2012.
A record 43% of builders are cutting prices and 65% are offering incentives (19th straight month above 60%).
The problem? Buyers simply can't afford the homes being built.

The Boomer conservatives apologizing for this are so obnoxious.
Old people also want zero property taxes. They basically want to contribute nothing at all to society and it’s eating a bunch of developed countries alive.

Texted to my contacts but every time I call dispatch today, there was a wait time every time I called but officers arrived & cleared the scene. Not great accountability as far as searches & arrests go but it helped. I want to take SLCPD today for what they’ve done… – at Salt Lake City, UT
These age verification law are not & never have been about protecting kids. That was/is the excuse. They’ve always been about identity.
The UK has spent years expanding online safety regulations. ⚠️ A new Ofcom review found that most children still report encountering "harmful content" online.
This is exactly the outcome many have been warning about.
Age verification mandates, identity checks, and expansive compliance regimes create new surveillance burdens, but they do not address the underlying causes of online harm.
As lawmakers across the United States are fast-tracking similar proposals, they should learn from the UK's experience and slow down before importing policies that have failed to deliver on their promises.
Parents need better tools, better education, and greater authority over their children's digital lives, not government mandates for data collection, surveillance, and digital ID.
Parents are the firewall.

The blame-Ukraine-first folks are having a hard time agreeing on whether the speed is still throttled or not.
If it is, then I guess the Ukrainians are lying about it being restored? If it’s not, I guess someone paid for the upgraded plan or something and now everything’s cool?

Once again, I live in Ukraine, and I have never met a soldier or a civilian who is fighting for Zelenskyy.
Ukrainians resist because our country was invaded, because russian occupation means kidnapped children, executed civilians, torture chambers, mass graves, rape, and looting. Our soldiers defend their families, their culture, their civilians, and their future, not the president.

I was quite young at the time but I felt like I was losing my mind a bit despite being a naive lib. Libs would say the strangest shit imaginable about Obama, it was genuinely cult like
Tech is lobbying for & embracing this. You (the government) are handing them EVERYONE’s personal information .
Before people would/could say “I’ll go elsewhere rather than give my data”. Now they get to say it’s the law, you must give us your information.
This is big government
Florida's AG @JamesUthmeierFL just unveiled the Safe Screens Act: age verification for app stores, strict default limits on teen social media use, and a ban on AI chatbots simulating "companionship" with kids. Big Tech will fight it. Florida parents should demand it.

You claim big tech will fight it. Are you aware that big tech is supporting these bills? Meta support and fund app store accountability act that's in safe screens act. Age verification requires everyone to upload an ID to use the internet. Big tech would love to have our IDs

Not only should this not be law,d it is also likely unconstitutional.
It is disgusting a Republican would suggest this. It used to be the party against big government.
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has proposed requiring age verification in app stores, operating systems, and AI chatbots, turning child protection into a system that identifies every user.
Critics say there is no way to find minors without checking everyone.
A mandatory identity layer for ordinary computing is the foundation of a digital ID system, and once it exists, it can be extended to track, score, and restrict people.
China is the cautionary example they cite most often.

I'm gonna take a stab: When you're afraid to mention your party's signature economic policy in campaign ads, that might be a sign that the policy is unpopular because it didn't work as promised.
Just such a fun chart here from @greg_ip. If only we could tease out some meaning. Ah, well, nevertheless. 🤣
