Lot of folks with their elbows up in Guelph tonight to listen to Charlie Angus talk about working together to defend Canadian values of democracy, decency and diversity.

We went and voted today. Longest lines I've ever seen. Voter involvement in the democratic process is essential. I'm hoping for record voter turnout. Show up like our country depends on it because it does.

I’m devastated, but I’m also angry.
I’m angry because this is an attack on press freedom.
If opportunities can be stripped from journalists simply because enough people repeat the same bad-faith narrative, how can anyone withstand the career impact of doing work that matters?

Conservative politicians said the quiet part out loud: Pierre’s hidden vision for Canada aligns with Donald Trump’s. He won’t stand up for Canada. Carleton — you deserve better! #FanjoyVsPoilievre #CanadaStrong #CarletonDeservesBetter #TogetherWeCan

I’m not a journalist. I’m an Alberta dad, husband, and trades worker. Over the past few days, I’ve been reading everything I can about the CSIS findings regarding Pierre Poilievre’s compromised position and lack of security clearance. Here’s what I’ve found.

Canada, don’t get lulled into complacency. You must vote. The last thing we want or need is that surprise, depressing, sinking feeling on election night if we watch Canada turn blue, like the shocking feeling we had when Trump won both times. Vote like your life depends on it.

Pierre’s badly worded announcement (done deliberately) worked like he knew it would. People think the tax reduction is 15% of their taxes…it’s not…it’s 15% of 15%, a 2.25% reduction.
He’s conning you.

Teachers are protesting because we know that abolishing the Department of Education would destroy the last safeguard of equal public education, leaving countless students at the mercy of underfunded, under-resourced, and deeply unequal state systems.

5/ And they want you to decide to vote for Pierre without telling you what you are voting for.
Like Donald Trump. Like Danielle Smith. Out of control and causing damage without having been honest about it.
Team Poilievre blew it.

Lots of interesting DMs/phone calls in the past couple days from friends across #ontag about the @GrainFarmers decision to endorse @fordnation
Wildly they didn't even agree to endorse him...
By the end you will find this is one more example of Ford rolling over rural folk

I've been seeing a lot of people on the left and right talking about the 2024 election as if it was a landslide.
So I made this chart to put things in context.
Trump's win was one of the smallest in modern history.

Breathtaking mismanagement at the University of Guelph leaves 1300 new students who were promised residence, without a place to live.
Those responsible should be given the boot. We’ve been documenting the relationship between the affordable housing crisis and Universities increasing enrolment in the absence of new housing for over two years now. This is just wilful neglect or deep ignorance at this point.
It will deepen the housing crisis in Guelph for those most vulnerable to homelessness. Housing is a system. Parents from other elsewhere will now fight tooth and nail - and will spend what they need to spend - to access housing for their kids (as they should - what else are they going to do?).
Those in Guelph on a fixed income, or vulnerable to homelessness, become more vulnerable when supply is tightened so dramatically. This terrible mismanagement will reverberate throughout this small city, and in the lives of those most vulnerable.

Immediately following the initial attacks on the World Trade Center, tunnels were closed, and traffic fleeing Manhattan via bridges reached a standstill.
Many civilians, especially in those neighborhoods closest to the attacks, were desperate to escape the island but had no way to do so.
Luckily, their salvation came like lightning.
A coast guard transmission went out. “All available boats,” it said.
“This is the United States Coast Guard… Anyone wanting to help with the evacuation of Lower Manhattan report to Governors Island.”
Within minutes, around 150 private ships of all shapes, sizes, and purposes reported for duty and got to work.
All told, these heroic captains transported around 500,000 people away from the disaster zone.
This came to be known as the 9/11 Boat Lift, which to this day, is the largest water evacuation in history.
