Here’s a simple hack to potentially enhance rectus femoris development. Instead of performing leg extensions in the traditional upright position (90° of hip flexion), try reclining the backrest to reduce the degree of hip flexion. This places the rectus femoris at a longer muscle length, conceivably increasing passive tension and thus providing a greater stimulus for hypertrophy. In support of this strategy, a recent study by Larsen et al. (PMID: 39699974) found that performing leg extensions at 40° versus 90° of hip flexion produced appreciably greater rectus femoris growth at both the proximal (12.4% vs. 4.6%) and distal (15.8% vs. 10.9%) regions. Alternatively, no meaningful differences were observed in vastus lateralis hypertrophy, highlighting how changes in exercise positioning can differentially affect the growth of individual quadriceps muscles. Bottom line: Small adjustments in exercise setup can make a meaningful difference in muscle development, underscoring the importance of understanding applied anatomy to optimize hypertrophic outcomes. Sometimes, a simple change in positioning is all it takes to enhance your training stimulus. tandfonline.com/doi/10.1080/…

Most productivity advice is useless. Just wake up early. When I was dead broke, my routine was 1) Wake up 4:30am to workout in my living room (p90X lol) 2) Go to my job 3) Use my 1 hour lunch break to eat an empanada and build blogs on my shitty laptop 4) Finish job at 5pm 5) Eat dinner 6) Read for an hour or watch a movie 7) Sleep My diet was trash. My sleep was awful. But I was happier than ever because I had a sense of purpose and eventually I was able to build a life where I didn't have to go to a job anymore. The best productivity advice I can give you is to wake up early and get things done.

With the right strategy, you can build muscle, get stronger, and improve your endurance at the same time. The catch? You can't maximize them all at the same time. This is one of the coaching tips in my new app, Capacity Training:

The simplest way to build a network: Be relentlessly useful. Talk positively about people behind their backs. Send helpful resources. Connect friends with friends. Learn a skill then share it. Shout people out in public. The best way to get a friend is to be a friend.

FYI - the best physique for a suit isn’t a bodybuilder’s physique. Think broad shoulders, developed chest, lean waist, athletic legs. Enough muscle to give the tailoring shape but not so much that you’re fighting the clothes.

A lot of men get into their late 30s and 40s and still want to delude themselves into believing they're only three or four workouts away from being 25 years old again

Pea coat season. Yes, I've had the same pea coat for nearly 10 years. And it's not even an expensive one (it's the Doyle pea coat from MERC). I might finally replace/upgrade this piece this year, although I still love it because of the contrast tartan lining. Even inexpensive items can last a long time provided you take good care of them. I always tell my clients and readers that you should treat whatever you buy like a luxury item. Take proper care and you'll be surprised at how well it holds over time.

True for both feeling good & feeling bad... You take a few days easy because you're tired... In your brain you're "losing everything", in your body, the fitness is there, you're just shedding fatigue. However, you get busy for a month & your brain gets over that initial phase & you get out of the habit - you're not conscious of the fitness you lost, but your body says otherwise! Your brain will fool you - both ways. 🧠 When in doubt... Zoom out.
The fundamental problem... Our brain operates in days, our body in months-years.

See the little stripe of fabric on the cuff of these jeans below? This is the hallmark of a self-finished edge on a pair of selvedge denim jeans. You ought to have a pair. This is how denim is supposed to be made.
