Helping people get better at the work—and at themselves—has turned out to be one of the more worthwhile parts of my job.

Leadership is less about fitting people into the mold I’m comfortable with and more about learning what each person can actually do.

Leadership isn’t the title. It’s the willingness to stay close to the work and the people doing it.

Recently my duties have shifted me almost entirely off yard. Today I made it a point to rub elbows with my staff. After taking them through a new yard-readiness task, they said - We know you're busy, but we miss u. That felt good.

Monday. Do you have a system in place that will guarantee your success? What does that process look like? Or are you taking each moment as it comes? My success, both on and off the job, depends entirely on having a plan. Have a great day.

It’s not about every day being a great day. Accepting that tough days pass and good ones get sprinkled in is enough for me to keep my sights on the prize: no matter what, I don’t pick up.

Poured an afternoon cup of joe and smiled. The old me would’ve already been drinking by now—day off tomorrow, after all. This version gets to stay up late with the family.
