Utterly mad. In just 8 days (20–27 October) Britain spent £158.6 million switching off wind turbines and paying gas plants to fire up instead. £19.8 million to turn the turbines off. £138.8 million to buy the electricity elsewhere. 602,000 MWh of green electrons wasted. Enough to power 200-220k UK homes for an entire year. This is not a transition. It’s an expensive, self-inflicted farce.

Britain’s new minimum wage: £27,456 a year. Higher-rate income tax kicks in at £50,270. Wage compression the Soviet Union could only have dreamed of.
🚨 NEW: John Healey will increase the minimum wage for over 21s from £12.71 to around £13.20

The property industry wants Government to increase supply, stimulate demand, support buyers, protect prices and boost transactions. Perhaps the housing market needs less Government intervention rather than another round of it. propertysoup.co.uk/property-…

Utterly dreadful use of survey data and arguably a dreadful survey. How were the agents selected? Were they geographically representative? How many could be reporting the same agents? Without that information, the headline cannot possibly be justified. estateagenttoday.co.uk/break…

An avalanche of statistics trying to explain a struggling housing market yet avoiding the elephant in the room. House prices remain historically detached from earnings & households are enduring an acute cost of living crisis. It's not that complicated. estateagenttoday.co.uk/break…

WARNING SIGNS: London has so often been the epicentre of major changes in the property market, with what happens there eventually rippling outwards. A £3.6bn development being put on hold because of weak sales is concerning and worth monitoring. propertyindustryeye.com/prop…

We should be increasing overall housing supply first; maximise sustainable owner-occupation where households want it; provide adequate social housing; then ensure a competitive, investable PRS for those who need or choose to rent. propertyindustryeye.com/buy-…

The Manager of Gosport Wetherspoons states its ‘Company policy’ to not allow anyone in with a Remembrance Poppy on as it ‘could be political’. Boycott Wetherspoons.

We welcome Lula’s victory in Brazil. But we should also not pretend that narrow victories over the Far Right are causes for major celebration. Politics is in a dangerous place.

What JUST happened in Brazil is INSANE, first Lula requests an extension of voting by two more hours, his friend and lawyer (now Supreme Federal Court) accepts it, Bolsonaro was winning when they were at 50% of votes counted, in less than half an hour, Lula surpassed Bolsonaro by more than 3 million and with a count of more than 80% of votes, that's impossible. What just happened in Brazil is one of the most nauseating heists in a democracy Same sh*t different country!!!
